Russian and Syrian warplanes to resume bombing Aleppo after ceasefire ends

Moscow claimed that the ceasefire was to allow a "humanitarian" pause to the fighting, yet Assad regime officials and their Russian backers later came out and said that Syrian opposition fighters would also be allowed to leave Aleppo via these so-called humanitarian corridors.

On Friday, a renewed 10-hour Russian offer of a moratorium on airstrikes expired.

Russian and Syrian government forces also established humanitarian corridors through which both civilians and militants could leave the area, while global organizations also had the opportunity to deliver humanitarian aid.
