The result meant United became the first team to amass 2,000 all-time Premier League points, and more importantly stayed in the hunt for Champions League qualification.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho expects Zlatan Ibrahimovic to remain at Old Trafford next season despite speculation linking the Swedish striker with one last big-money transfer, he said on Friday.

United are unbeaten in 15 Premier League games and face Watford - who beat them at Vicarage Road earlier in the season - at home on Saturday.

During a recent interview with Globo Esporte, when the Chelsea attacker was asked about the rumours of then his link up with former boss Jose Mourinho, the Brazilian gives a positive response and says: Concrete I do not know.

"The fans got behind the team just before we scored the goal because we were phenomenal". But because it is my team, you would just say it is very good.

"They defend very well and with lots of players and I think in this situation a very defensive team wins the title with counter-attack goals and set pieces goals".

Ed Woodward, United's executive vice chairman, told investors yesterday that "we aren't in a position necessarily where we have to churn a large number of players".

Manchester United could move back into the top four with a win, but will need Arsenal to lose against Hull and Liverpool to draw or lose against Tottenham.

Mata's first-half goal was a superb, flowing team move.

It's worth mentioning that Watford have never before finished in the top of the Premier League table and this season they have a great chance to achieve that.

"Because if he trains the way he did in the past two weeks, he performs naturally the way he did today or better because I think he still misses a little bit his confidence".

United were in full control of the match and they finally got a second goal on the hour mark when Martial showed his class to place the ball into the back of the net to end the game as a contest.

"He knows we are going to try again to improve next season and try to share with him in a fantastic way probably the previous year of his career at the highest level". I gave him the possibility of a day off to go to Sweden.
