Snydergaard exits early, Mets lose to Marlins 3-2

16 April 2017

Zimmermann (1-1) allowed five runs and four hits in 4 2/3 innings, walking a career-high five.

CHICAGO - Brett Anderson beat his former team with five solid innings, center fielder Albert Almora Jr. made two outstanding catches against the ivy and Chicago beat Los Angeles.

Story's first home run of the season came with two outs in the fourth inning against Giants starter Madison Bumgarner (0-2), who allowed three runs and six hits in six innings. But Realmuto, who was 0 for 3 to that point, belted a fastball on a 3-2 pitch from Edgin into the gap in right center allowing Rojas to come around and score.

Dee Gordon and Miguel Rojas each had three hits for Miami (5-5).

The Mets used an RBI double from Michael Conforto to tie it at 8-8 in the eighth inning, but the game remained scoreless with just four hits total until d'Arnaud went deep with this swing for the 9-8 victory. Gordon then scored on a Christian Yelich sacrifice fly.

The Toronto Blue Jays' woes continued with a 2-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals beat the Oakland Athletics 3-1. Give me the Mets to get the Saturday victory. The left-hander only allowed one runner to reach second base in his longest outing since August 13, 2014. Realmuto hit a grounder to shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera, who tried to get the force play at second but threw wildly. "The ball got to me pretty quickly".

Oil edges up as Saudis reported to back extension of production cuts
Rising production has come before record US oil stockpiles have had time to drain, putting pressure on regional prices. USA crude production is set to grow to 9.9 million bpd in 2018, from 9.22 million bpd this year.

"I think I'm more happy about the hit", Chen told the media through an interpreter, "than the win".

The Marlins were fired up, too, but for a different reason. The call stood, and the Marlins reacted in stunned fashion.

Fortunately for Rojas and the Marlins, the next time he touched home plate, the run counted.

After that, Syndergaard was by no means dominant put he pitched effectively for the next five innings. His start was pushed up a day so he could replace Adam Conley, who pitched the 16th inning and took the loss Thursday. The Marlins recalled Garcia from Double-A Jacksonville. Given the Marlins' exhausted bullpen, they needed someone who was fresh.

The bullpen took enough of a beating that the Mets demoted utilityman T.J. Rivera to Triple-A Las Vegas and promoted reliever Sean Gilmartin. As it was, Collins did not have Hansel Robles, Josh Smoker or Addison Reed available for Friday night.

Mike Leake outpitched 2016 NL Cy Young Award victor Max Scherzer, Stephen Piscotty homered and had five RBIs, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Washington Nationals 6-1 to avoid a three-game sweep. Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom pinch-hit with two out in the 15th and struck out. Miami rested one starter, RF Giancarlo Stanton, although his career numbers against Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard (0-for-11, six strikeouts) may have convinced Marlins manager Don Mattingly to make the move.
