Officials said Donnie Rowe and his accomplice Ricky Dubose, who are serving life sentences were seen on Tuesday after they subdued, disarmed and killed Sergeant Curtis Billue and Sergeant Christopher Monica. "If somebody is helping them and we find out who they are, they will be prosecuted as participants in this crime, there's no doubt about that". But nothing solid so far, officials said.

"They were inside the caged area of the bus", Sills said. "We do need the public's help".

Things moved quickly in the minutes and hours after the shootings and escapes around daybreak on Tuesday.

"As of right now, none of them have heard from Mr. Dubose since this incident occurred", said Captain Patton.

They were able to get through a locked gate and overpower two officers, one of whom was driving the transport bus. But one inmate seated at the front was helpful, Sills said.

It's been two days since an audacious prison escape in rural Georgia left two guards dead and two fugitives on the loose.

The carjacking victim, unharmed, walked to a store a mile away to use a phone. The two inmates are still at large as part of a multi-state manhunt.

Baldwin County Sheriff Bill Massee is on the scene assisting, as are deputies from Hancock County.

"I think she needs her mother", Flegal said. He is serving a 20 year sentence for armed robbery, aggravated assault and theft by taking from a 2014 case out of Elbert Co.

Denise Monica, 53, an Olean High School graduate, has lived in Georgia for about 16 years and has a 16-year-old daughter with Christopher Monica, according to Flegal. Billue, 58, a 10-year employee, is survived by his father, brother and sister, Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Greg Dozier said. Many law enforcement officers from local, state and federal agencies are hunting for them. After killing the guards and abandoning the prison bus, Rowe and Dubose carjacked a passerby's vehicle at gunpoint and ransacked a nearby house for food and clothes. The men hide the Honda in the woods near the burglarized house, then made their way to an industrial site where they stole the pickup, authorities said.

Sills said it appeared the two had driven the vehicle up a berm of dirt then jumped out at the top and let the Honda careen down the other side and into a tree.

"They're doing like most escapees do".

Authorities said the two inmates got into a "grass green", four-door 2004 Honda Civic with the Georgia license plate number RBJ-6601 and drove west on state Highway 16 toward Eatonton, southeast of Atlanta.

"They were inside the caged area of the bus", Sills said. He also has tattoos on his face.

"These people have relatives, these people have friends".

According to Jasper County Sheriff Chris Malphrus, 50 to 70 officers from multiple jurisdictions were in the area searching along with dog teams and a helicopter.
