Donald Trump Challenges DNC on Servers: 'It's All a Big Dem HOAX!'

Johnson told the House Intelligence Committee he "voluntarily accepted the invitation to be here today as concerned private citizen" and highlight that "in 2016, the Russian government, at the direction of Vladimir Putin himself, orchestrated cyber attacks on our nation for the objective of influencing our election".

In what has become typical fashion, President Trump blamed the Obama administration for failing to "stop" Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Election systems in 21 states were likely targeted by the Russian government previous year, a Department of Homeland Security official said Wednesday, but Oklahoma was not among them.

Johnson testified his agency was rebuffed by Democratic officials when they offered to help thwart the Russian intrusion into their computer files.

"The DNC has and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement on Russia's interference in our election".

Russian Federation has repeatedly denied responsibility for any cyber attacks during the election.

That is correct, the DHS acting deputy undersecretary responded.

Testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee, the officials said none of the digital intrusions affected the parts of electoral systems that counted votes _ but that they expect Russian Federation to keep trying. "Fresh from the experience with the Office of Personnel Management, I pressed my staff to know whether DHS was sufficiently proactive, and on the scene helping the DNC identify the intruders and patch vulnerabilities", Johnson said in his prepared opening remarks.

"... Why did Democratic National Committee turn down the DHS offer to protect against hacks (long prior to election)".

DNC officials said it did not hear from DHS until months after the hack had been made public and after the Federal Bureau of Investigation had worked to close the intrusion, and that the DNC provided the DHS a detailed report on the incident.

He added that he believes that America remains "exposed". "To have the number of states that were hacked into or attempted to be hacked into still kept secret is just insane in my mind".

A brotherly reunion always seemed an extremely dim prospect, even at a Glastonbury festival that has seen its share of surprises. It is a very good idea, they need to communicate for the people who will be voting for them.

Manfra, however, refused to reveal which states were targeted.

"And I think that's what a lot of this process is about".

"It is not for me to know to what extent the Russian hacks influenced public opinion and thereby influence the outcome of the election", he said.

She said the calls occurred on August 15, September 8 and October 12.

He said the Russians have conducted covert operations targeting past American elections but that the internet "has allowed Russia to do so much more" than before.

Liles said the agency had "very high" confidence in that assessment.

He also said he contacted The Associated Press, which counts votes, and its CEO, Gary Pruitt.

"I'm not going to argue with you, sir", Johnson answered.

During Senate testimony, Lankford displayed a large screenshot of a phishing email allegedly used by Russian hackers to infiltrate the Democratic National Committee.

Given the scope and breadth of the Kremlin's attempts to interfere in the November election, the Obama administration has faced questions about the timing of its public disclosure, just a month before Americans went to the polls.
