The Quartet added that the preconditions set by the minister confirm Qatar's lack of seriousness about holding a dialogue, combating and putting an end to financing terrorism and interfering in the domestic affairs of other countries, they said.

President Donald Trump with Kuwait's emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, at the White House on Thursday. "I was telling the emir before that if I can help between UAE and Saudi Arabia ... if I can help mediate between Qatar and, in particular, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, I would be willing to do so".

Saudi Arabia and its Arab satellite states of Bahrain, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates cut their diplomatic ties with Qatar on June 5, accusing Doha of sponsoring terrorism and destabilizing the region.

At the close of a meeting with Kuwaiti Emir Sabah al-Sabah, President Trump commented on the preparations being made in advance of Hurricane Irma's expected landfall in Florida.

Trump says he will discuss the diplomatic crisis involving Qatar and its Arab neighbors.

"[A peace accord] is an event that's just never taken place", he said. "The hope has not ended yet".

Special counsel Robert Mueller and the House and Senate intelligence committees are also investigating the meeting, which was attended by Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and then-campaign chairman, Paul Manafort.

"The press has been incredible", Trump reportedly told House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi during a phone call on Thursday morning.

He said both sides wanted peace and that the USA had "tremendous talent" working on the problem. Trump plans to meet both Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly later this month. "I think we have a chance of doing it. I think we'll have something solved".

He has said that the Emir of Kuwait is now helping America in the Gulf and that "things are going well".

Kuwait has been serving as mediator, with USA backing, but without results thus far.
