The change, which will be announced on Monday, will affect over 150,000 employees who work for the 3,600 companies who pay the voluntary wage that aims to reflect the wage needed to sustain a decent quality of life.

Lidl is clearly dedicated to the living wage, having previous form when it comes to investing in it, so we can expect the chain to put its money where its mouth is.
Firms already accredited by the Living Wage Foundation and paying the voluntary living wage include Aviva, British Gas, Ikea, and Nationwide.

From next year, accredited living wage employers in Scotland will increase their hour rate by 30p to £8.75 an hour.
Lidl has announced that it will be increasing wages of more than 16,000 of its employees next year, as a result of a bump in the living wage.
