Search for missing NC girl intensifying near her home

Local law enforcement has stepped up the search for a missing North Carolina girl after she disappeared from her home.

Federal Bureau of Investigation officials are testing "items of interest" and asking for the public's help to hopefully find a 3-year-old missing North Carolina girl, according to the News & Observer.

A statewide Amber Alert has been issued for the girl.

Mariah is described as white, with light brown hair and blue eyes, standing just under 3 feet tall and weighing 30 pounds.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Hunter told authorities she last checked on Mariah at around 11 p.m. on Sunday night.

More specific details will be posted on the Onslow County Sheriff's Office Facebook page and to volunteers as they arrive tomorrow.

The FBI and Onslow County Sheriff's Office said that more than 100 interviews have been conducted since the 3-year-old went missing.

Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said officials have set up a volunteer search for Friday in hopes of finding 3-year-old Mariah Woods.

When the mother awoke the next morning at about 6 a.m., she noticed the girl missing, she told authorities.

Sheriff Hans Miller has said the little girl's mother and her live-in boyfriend were also interviewed and that officers searched their house and vehicle.

Pakistan's foreign ministry on Saturday had confirmed receiving the response and said that it was being considered. There is speculation that Pakistan has made the offer for the spouse's meeting because of the case before the ICJ.

On Thursday, search crews turned their attention towards a creek along United States 17 about three miles from Mariah's home on Dawson Cabin Road in Jacksonville where she was last seen.

"I think this community has been very supportive in that effort".

Though authorities have not shared much about the investigation, they do not believe there is a threat to the general public.

Throughout the course of the search, investigators have used everything from drones, helicopters, and K9 dogs in the attempt to find the Mariah.

Mariah's father, Alex Woods, was at work Monday when he heard the Amber Alert come over the radio and he couldn't believe what he heard.

"If you have a shed, a barn, a wooded area, go take a look", he said during a news conference on Wednesday.

"My last memory of her was feeding her and putting her to bed", Woods told local station Channel 12.

"Personally, as a father and a grandfather, I'm looking at a little 3-year-old girl - I'm emotional about this", Miller said.
