Matt Lauer's Name Is Google's Second-Most Searched Term In America

It wouldn't be Ireland if we weren't obsessing about the weather and a second hurricane makes an appearance in the top 10 most searched for terms.

The iPhone 8 may not be Apple's ultimate flagship, but the curiosity around it ahead of its launch has put it on top of Google's most searched keywords list for this year.

The second top search was for former "Today" show anchor Matt Lauer, who was sacked from NBC last month for a complaint about inappropriate sexual behavior. Other terms and names that made the top 10 list for all searches are: Hurricane Irma, coming in at number one, followed by, Los Vegas Shooting, Hurricane Harvey and the Solar Eclipse.

But there were those who had no cares about belly fat: according to Google, the most-searched-for recipes in SA were oxtail recipes, quickly followed by those involving sweet potato, creamed spinach, beef stews, and vegan ingredients.

Following close behind Lauer were rock star Tom Petty, who died in October, the Super Bowl and the Las Vegas massacre. Meanwhile, Google has also posted the global and national list of top searches.

That failed to find favor with critics or audiences and was considered one of the year's early bombs. Additional scenes show Chiren ( Jennifer Connely) and Vector (Masherala Ali ) too.

With the new year just around the corner, Google has now published its 2017 Year in Search and it offers valuable insights of the things that caught users' attention most in 2017. The iPhone 8 and iPhone X took the second and third spots, respectively, in the United States.

September's solar eclipse was the seventh most popular USA search term, and the third among news searches. However, people searched for "how to help" more than ever.

Google complies the lists based on search terms that had high spikes in traffic in 2017 as compared to 2016.

"What is the antikythera mechanism?' was the most Googled "what is.' question".
