Southampton boss Pellegrino has Hazard plan to undo Chelsea

Saints face third-placed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, hoping to bounce back from their embarrassing 4-1 defeat at home to Leicester on Wednesday.

Puel's tenure at St Mary's was blighted by criticism of their effectiveness in attack, the Frenchman leaving in June after just one season in charge.

Since returning to the Premier League to replace Craig Shakespeare in October he has continued quietly going about his business, taking Leicester up to eighth spot.

The visitors raced into a 3-0 lead inside 38 minutes as Riyad Mahrez drilled in the opener, Shinji Okazki pounced on a loose ball to double the tally and Andy King scored at the far post to give them a commanding advantage at the break.

"The result is the result", he said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

"It was a odd feeling to come back here and it was nice to see familiar faces", Puel told reporters. I have a lot of friends.

"I wanted him before when I was at Southampton but I am happy he is in the colours of Leicester and that I found him in my squad because he is a valuable player for the team".

"I saw him last season in the under-21 games and he can play in different positions for me", he told the Leicester Mercury.

These are the kind of selection problems that Puel will welcome, though, and it makes his choice of team on Saturday all the more interesting as someone in good form will likely miss out.

He added: "It is a good result for us and now it's important to continue this". It is hard to control the results but we are responsible for the results'. "It was a great introduction to the Premier League and perhaps allowed me to become a better manager".

"All is not ideal, we still need to correct things and make progress".

The loss of Shai Hope (28), Roston Chase (12), Sunil Ambris (2) and Brathwaite after the rain break Sunday followed that pattern. Reifer, on test debut, played a bold late hand, defying the New Zealand bowlers for 107 minutes.
