The state's area unemployment rates rely in part on the results of the Current Population Survey, according to the report, which contacts approximately 3,100 households in NY state each month.

With that many counties having higher unemployment rates than York's, that means this region has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.

Ceres had an unemployment rate of 6.7 percent in November, down from the 6.8 percent in October.

Briscoe County's unemployment rate went from 3.2 percent to 3.7 percent; Castro County went from 2.7 percent to 2.8 percent; Floyd County increased from 4.3 to 4.8; Lamb County went from 4.0 to 4.2; and Swisher went from 3.5 to 3.7.

Cloquet's unemployment rate was 4.3 percent in November.

The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 5.3 percent.

Labor force numbers for Tennessee: Tennessee's work force of 3,222,200 showed 3,123,800 working and 98,400 unemployed.

According to the labor department, the jobless rate for both counties increased from the same time previous year when they were 6 percent.
