Donald Trump Doubles Down on 'Stable Genius' Tweet at Camp David

08 January 2018

'I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius....and a very stable genius at that!'

On Saturday, President Trump disputed the book's account, describing himself as "a very stable genius".

"I went to the best colleges, or college", he told reporters.

Trump spoke to reporters at Camp David, NBC News reported, and said he felt compelled to write his tweets, saying, "I had a situation where I was a very excellent student; came out made billions and billions of dollars; became one of the top business people; went to television and for 10 years was a tremendous success, as you've probably had heard, ran for president one time and won".

Trump and some aides have attacked Wolff's credibility, pointing to the fact that the book includes a number of factual errors and denying that the author had as much access as he claimed. "Didn't exist, it's in his imagination".

"I guess sloppy Steve brought him into the White House quite a bit, and it was one of those things".

Tapper abruptly ended the interview, calling Miller "obsequious" and accusing Miller of wasting his viewers' time. "I've spent about three hours with the President over the course of the campaign, and in the White House". I have no particular politics when it comes to Donald Trump.

The book also quotes Trump's former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, and other prominent advisers as questioning the president's competence.

Donald Trump too has continued to fight back against the book.

Obama to be David Letterman's first Netflix guest
Former President Barack Obama will be David Letterman's first guest on the former late night talk show hosts new Netflix series. Obama's appearance on the new show marks the former president's first television interview since leaving office past year .

CNN has not independently confirmed all of Wolff's assertions. He gives Trump his regular intelligence briefings.

In early December, the House voted overwhelmingly to kill a resolution from a liberal Democrat to impeach Trump. "He should have known they are duplicitous, cunning and not our friends", Bannon said.

Wolff's book, "Fire and Fury - Inside the Trump White House", portrays Trump as unfocused, unprepared and petty while presiding over a chaotic White House. "Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad s***, and I happen to think it's all of that, you should have called the Federal Bureau of Investigation immediately".

He also criticized Bannon, who is quoted at length by Wolff, saying it was "tragic and unfortunate" that Bannon "would make these grotesque comments so out of touch with reality and obviously so vindictive". Michael Wolff took my remarks about Don Jr. out of context to sell his book.

The book has set off a feud between Trump and his former top strategist, Breitbart News chairman Steve Bannon, who looks like a major source for Fire and Fury. Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by nearly everyone.

Wolff reiterated his belief that it is becoming a widespread view that Trump is unfit for presidency, telling BBC Radio in an interview overnight that it's a "very clear emperor-has-no-clothes effect".

Wolff's book depicts a deeply unprepared, incurious president surrounded by toadying advisers nonetheless concerned about his ability to do the job.

"Oh, my God! He has no clothes!"

Trump's tweets appear to be a reaction to coverage on Fox News of questions about his mental state, a discussion that's been intensifying in medical circles, the media, and Congress in the last month.
