Everything from the platform up is all-new with this RAV4, which is noteworthy in its dimensions.
Other notable changes made to the incoming model is the shift to the Japanese auto manufacturer's Toyota New Global Architecture K platform. It's also slightly wider and just a bit shorter than the present RAV4.
The new hatch, which we'd say is a good bet to outsell its predecessor, gets more dynamic styling that ties neatly in with what Toyota has recently done with its new Camry and Avalon models. It can send 50% of engine torque to rear wheels as well as apportion it between left and right rear wheels to improve handling, the automaker says. It also uses makes sure the set of dog clutches completely disconnects the rear wheels under normal operation. The RAV4 also comes with three AWD systems with a more traditional arrangement and Toyota's AWD-i hybrid setup that now creates 30 percent more torque for the electrically driven rear wheels.
A 2.5-litre hybrid model has been announced too and, while no figures have been revealed, it'll be able to beat the current RAV4 hybrid for both power and mpg. Again, Toyota is mum on powertrain details, but the automaker did say that a continuously variable transmission will be standard and that the hybrid will be the highest-performance RAV4 variant. It wants to be loaded up with a kayak and a mountain bike on its roof, with mud splashed over its chiseled, 4Runner-like and Tacoma-inspired grille and beefy fenders.
Though Toyota drops the Platinum trim from the lineup, the 2019 RAV4 is still stylish and forward-thinking in its latest redesign.. An electronically-controlled, automated system determines how much torque to feed to the rear wheels on the RAV4 Hybrid according to driving conditions.
Uber to sell Southeast operations to Grab, get stake in combined business
The sale of Uber's regional business marks the first major consolidation efforts among ride-hailing companies in Southeast Asia. It has also suffered several setbacks, from reporting losses to losing its former CEO due to a harassment scandal.
All trims come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, a suite of features including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, intelligent cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and even auto high beams.
As many as five USB ports are available inside the CUV, and there is an optional 11-speaker, 800-watt JBL audio system.
The RAV4 is available with two engine options: a conventional 2.5-litre petrol and a hybrid 2.5-litre petrol unit. Also standard is Road Sign Assist, which sees certain types of road signs such as stop, speed, yield, and do not enter, and displays them on the multi-information display between the main gauges. The all-new 2019 Toyota RAV4 gas models will hit the dealerships during the late 2018 and the hybrid model will available in early 2019.
