Cynthia Nixon, who is best known for her role as the "tough as nails" lawyer Miranda Hobbs on the hit HBO show Sex and the City, has grabbed the headlines as she announced her intention to run for governor of NY.
Cynthia Nixon is proud of her work on Sex and the City, but there was one scene in the movie's sequel that left a bad taste in her mouth.
"Well, I love NY", answered Nixon, a native of the state. Dan Davenport, another attendee, described Nixon as "very exuberant" about the issue.
"We love the clothes", she added. Other than this general promise, she has not provided any details regarding how she would approach legalization. I'm running as a New York City subway rider, but also I have been fighting for better and particularly more equal funding of New York state's public schools for the last 17 years.
"Well, I love New York", Nixon said as she argued why she would be the ideal candidate to represent the state. Nixon explained her motivation to run against Democrat and incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo came from President Donald Trump's election. The actress, who is one small Oscar away from a coveted EGOT, added that NY was poised to be a "real liberal bastion" in the country, an example of policies that counteract those of the Trump administration.Читайте также: Sen. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon says New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his administration "ignored" an upstate village's problems with its contaminated water supply.
Her comment came after she mentioned that 'an fantastic African American woman:' - Andrea Stewart-Cousins - wasn't included in weeks of closed-door talks that led to last Sunday's passage of the budget. "If you want it done you actually have to get in there yourself", she said. I thought wow; that's not really what you love about the show.
"If we're going to say Black Lives Matter, we have to mean it".
If elected, the Emmy victor would make history as the first female and first openly gay governor of NY.
"Black women are going to stop showing up for the Democratic Party if the Democratic Party doesn't show up for them", she said.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
