Zidane faces defensive woes ahead of Real's clash with Juventus

11 Апреля 2018

Only two teams in Champions League history have overturned a deficit of three goals or more from the first leg in the knockout stages.

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo walks past coach Zinedine Zidane as he is substituted.

"Gareth is a Real Madrid player and loves Real Madrid and Real Madrid love Gareth", Barnett told ESPN.

"This is an interesting player for anyone, and for English football he has shown that he's very valuable".

"It is clear that Ronaldo is among the greatest in club history and in this sport. He is powerful and only thinks about scoring goals, he is a constant danger".

But the Juve coach wants his players to stick to their game plan, rather than attacking Madrid from the off and risking another big defeat. "I imagine in the semis we'll have to play Bayern Munich, who we always seem to meet but, if we face Barca in the final, we should remember that we beat them twice in the Spanish Super Cup this season", he added.

"There are hard times but in the Champions League, when you look at the trajectory of this club, it is impressive and nobody has reached this level".

Ronaldo already has 14 goals in this year´s tournament, three short of his best ever 17, which he posted when Real were crowned champions in 2014.

Juventus, meanwhile, are without Argentine forward Paulo Dybala, who was sent off in Real's 3-0 win in Turin last week, and midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, who is also suspended, while veteran defender Andrea Barzagli was ruled out through injury.

"I am not thinking about being without Cristiano Ronaldo, this is what we have and we are happy", Zidane said.

"Four months is not a body of work, but 12 years is a body of work". He will guarantee you 40 odd goals a season. "I think Arturo Vidal will return to training on Thursday".

"The 0-3 result will not change things for us". The 19 year old striker will join Real Madrid's "B" team as he passed his medicals with the club, this according to Marca. "I'll give them the OK whenever it happens".

"If there is a weakness everyone knows with Real it would be defensively".

According to reports in Brazil, Ramon signed his contract last week and is expected to travel to Madrid in the next few days to undergo a medical before being registered with Castilla, Madrid's reserve side.
