Colt McCoy from Texas was chosen with 85th draft pick overall in the 2010 NFL Draft this past Friday. He was not expected to drop that low and it was expected by many that he would go at least in the second round. Quarterback Colt McCoy was chosen overall 85th by the Cleveland Browns.
Rookie quarterback McCoy will probably be one of the leaders when it comes to spring training camp but that is going to be beside the point. He is a rookie and the president of the Browns, Mike Holmgren, plans to keep McCoy on the sidelines and teach him the proper way to play ball. The Browns did not choose McCoy as their fourth round pick for him to play this season rather they chose him because he is a good choice for the long run. Continue Reading…
The Washington Redskins have given up their quarterback of five years to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a fourth round player pick in the 2012 NFL draft. It has been skeptical what would happen with Campbell since the acquirement of Donovan McNabb from Philadelphia at the beginning of this month.
The trade of Jason Campbell occurred on the very last day of the NFL Draft, which lasted for three days. Originally, the Redskins had four draft picks to select but at the end of three trades, they ended up with a total of six new players to add to their football team. Continue Reading…
This season has been a breath of fresh air for the Oklahoma City Thunder as they have been able to completely turn around their franchise in just a single season.
Not only has Kevin Durant turned into arguably one of the best players in the league and the most dominant scorer in the game, but head coach Scott Brooks has been able to lead these young up and coming NBA players through an entire NBA season and into the playoffs.
Even though the Oklahoma City Thunder will almost certainly get knocked out of the first round of the playoffs, Brooks has been able to create a young team with an extremely promising future led by scoring machine Kevin Durant. Continue Reading…
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been arguably one of the most dominant NFL franchises in the league over the last decade or so. With two recent Super Bowl titles and a legitimate shot of becoming a Super Bowl champion every single season, the Steelers are without a doubt a force to be reckoned with in AFC and will be for quite some time.
Unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Steelers dominance in the AFC North might quickly come to an end next season as they seem to be ready to trade franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Continue Reading…
Today, the Chicago Blackhawks played against the Nashville Predators in the quarterfinal series for the Western Conference. The Blackhawks strongly welcomed their teammate and defenseman Brian Campbell back to the team for this game.
30-year-old Brian Campbell has been off the ice since March 14, a little more than six weeks ago, when opponent Alex Ovechkin rammed him into the rear boards during a game between the Blackhawks and the Washington Capitals. From this hit, Campbell suffered several fractures to his ribs as well as his clavicle. Regarding this occurrence, Ovechkin of the Capitals was given a two game suspension. Continue Reading…
As originally suspected, the first pick of the St. Louis Rams went for the 2008 winner of the Heisman Trophy and quarterback Sam Bradford. This has made him the third Oklahoma Sooner player to be taken in the first draft pick. Amazingly, Bradford was nervous before the NFL Draft even began…he obviously had no reason to worry since he was the first pick of the night.
Followed by Sam Bradford, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska was drafted by the Detroit Lions with the second pick of the night. The Lions needed a strong and solid player like Suh to join the team since they have marked NFL history as being the only team to actually lose 30 games within two seasons. Continue Reading…
It’s Wednesday, which means that tomorrow the NFL Draft will begin. Who has the first five picks? Will the Rams choose a quarterback first to add to their team? Will Roethlisberger be traded because of his six game suspension? To answer this last question, it’s unlikely that Roethlisberger will be traded even if he is on suspension for six games, give or take depending on cooperation. The possibility is still there, though, so Roethlisberger should be prepared just in case.
The St. Louis Rams have the first draft pick. More than likely, the Rams are going to go with choosing a quarterback with the first pick – Sam Bradford, to be exact. However, it’s also possible, but less likely, for the Rams to take their first pick and choose Gerald McCoy from Oklahoma or Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska. The logical pick will be Bradford and will probably be the way that the Rams go. Continue Reading…
Ben Roethlisberger, the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be put on a six game suspension by the NFL. The NFL also requires that Roethlisberger go through comprehensive behavioral counseling. This information was confirmed by the NFL earlier today once it had been decided by Commissioner Roger Goodell that the Steelers quarterback had violated part of the NFL’s personal conduct policy primarily regarding the allegations of sexual assault.
The alleger was a Georgia college student and claimed that Roethlisberger raped her in the bathroom of a Georgia bar. The 20-year-old young woman did undergo a medical exam, but the exam did not show any evidence of her being assaulted. A letter was later written to the police from the alleger asking for them not to prosecute the case. Continue Reading…
It may come as a shocker to many people since Jason Taylor hasn’t been very fond of New York Jets fans for years now. He has called them classless, ignorant, dumb, and much more. However, it is now time for those Jets fans to be cheering for Taylor rather than booing him as they have been because he is officially a Jet as of Tuesday.
Tuesday, Jason Taylor, defensive end and linebacker, signed a two-year contract deal with the New York Mets. Taylor will be leaving the Miami Dolphins where he has played the majority of his NFL career (12 out of 13 seasons) to join the Dolphins AFC-East rival. Continue Reading…
Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens – really? The two played together on the Philadelphia Eagles and let us just say things were not the prettiest at all times. It was definitely not one of those bromances that you like to see and hear about.
However, apparently, McNabb – now part of the Washington Redskins after leaving the Eagles – is supporting the return of Owens. He has been trying to encourage the coaching staff of the Redskins to sign on Terrell Owens, as he is a free agent this year. Although his support and encouragement was heard, Coach Mike Shanahan has talked with ESPN and the team is not necessarily exploring the concept of signing Terrell Owens to the Redskins. The Eagles are looking to enhance their wide receiver position, but they plan to keep T.O. out of the picture if at all possible. Continue Reading…
