Ben Roethlisberger has a hard time the past year or so. He has finally learned though that he will not be held accountable for supposed sexual assault charges made against him by a Georgia college student. The bad thing about it is, though, is that he is still being disciplined by the Steelers or the league for his alleged behavior. He does, however, remain an active part in a civil ongoing suit in the state of Nevada where he allegedly sexually assaulted a hotel employee during his stay.
Despite the fact of the above information, he has now begun participating in the teams conditioning sessions and weightlifting activities. He is currently scheduled to make his first appearance at the first on field Steelers practice session this coming Monday. Continue Reading…
The defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers have had one hell of a year filled with turmoil, trade rumors and a number of injuries to some of their best players.
Despite everything this team has gone through in their title defense, Kobe Bryant and company have been able to pull it together and clinch the number one seed in the Western Conference for the third straight season.
Even though most people have been doubting the Lakers ability to compete for another NBA title this season, the best team in the West is definitely up for the challenge heading into the playoffs which is just around the corner. Continue Reading…
There have been a lot of surprises in the NBA this season with some teams and players around the league, but few teams have been as surprising, in terms of success, than the Charlotte Bobcats.
Last season the Charlotte Bobcats and then president Michael Jordan made a bold decision and move to bring hall of fame head coach Larry Brown. Even though Brown has made his coaching legacy in other cities around the country, the former Tar Heel has come back to North Carolina to lead yet another NBA franchise to the playoffs. Tonight, the Texas Rangers battle the Cleveland Indians on the baseball field, but one starter for the Rangers won’t make an appearance tonight. C.J. Wilson has been removed from the starting grid of tonight’s game against the Indians due to a mild case of food poisoning.
Wilson came down with a case of food poisoning during the team’s off day on Tuesday and although his condition has improved and he is feeling better, the Rangers wanted Wilson to have one more good day of rest. It’s just a mild case of food poisoning and nothing very severe, but it is important for Wilson to have his rest before getting back out on the field. Continue Reading…
So, it appears that yet another very prestigious receiver is making his way to AFC East. The Denver Broncos have decided to make a trade with the Miami Dolphins and the lucky receiver in the trade is Brandon Marshall. With this trade agreement, the Dolphins will have to give up two of their second round picks in the NFL draft next week. These two second round picks include one for this year and one for the 2011 NFL season.
This trade came as a wakeup call as the Miami Dolphins have been very quiet up to this point. The Dolphins’ offense has now drastically changed with Brandon Marshall arriving in Florida sometime this week for his physical – possibly as early as today. Continue Reading…
Various media reports have stated that Kasey Kahne, Number 9 Budweiser sponsored NASCAR Sprint Cup race car, is leaving Richard Petty Motorsports and moving to Hendrick Motorsports. RPM confirmed Kahne’s departure from the association at the conclusion of this year’s contract season.
Kahne has been with RPM since the year 2004 when he made his debut in NASCAR. He went on to win Rookie of the Year in 2004 as well as 79 Top 10 finishes, 43 Top 5 finishes and 11 wins. He also has gained 16 poles in 223 starts. Continue Reading…
According to various media reports and announcements, Brad Brownell, current coach of Wright State, will be replacing Oliver Purnell as Clemson’s new basketball coach. Oliver Purnell, the former Tigers coach, is being replaced due to his leave from the team to go to DePaul to coach this last week. Brownell, a native of Indiana, was up for the job a couple years ago, but ended up being beat by Tom Crean.
He joined Wright State in the year 2006 and in the four seasons that Brownell was with the Raiders, he was 84-45 and has now agreed to move onto the Tigers for coaching. Prior to Wright State though, he successfully coached UNC-Wilmington Seahawks to two NCAA Tournaments in his four seasons there. This season with Wright State, he finished 22-11. As for the Tigers, they fell short in the first NCAA Tournament round.
However, some shocking news may be that Brownell wasn’t first choice for the new Tigers coach. Brownell was only offered the job after the initial choice, Rick Stansbury for Mississippi State Bulldogs, turned the job down.
A full official statement is to be announced on Tuesday.
Ryan Newman, second driver of Stewart-Haas Racing finally cleared his 77 race drought during Saturday’s race at Phoenix International Speedway in his number 39 Tornados Chevrolet. He has not won in more than two years and it has been 77 races since his last win. Needless to say, he was ecstatic as was his car owner and teammate, Tony Stewart.
The win came from Newman taking two tires on a very late caution in the Subway Fresh Fit 600. Jeff Gordon won the race off pit road with Newman right behind him. Newman successfully managed to get past Gordon on the green-white-checkered finish and hold him off for the final two laps of the race to take the checkered flag. Smart move on the crew’s part to take two tires. Continue Reading…
After the win of the Pittsburgh Penguins against the New York Islanders of 7-3, Alexei Ponikarovsky, forward for the Penguins, was suspended by the NHL for two games, which are the final two games of the regular season. This suspension comes due to a hit on Josh Bailey, the Islanders forward, from behind.
The hit came in the third period of the game and he received a major penalty of five minutes for boarding as well as a game misconduct. After the hit, Bailey headed towards the locker room rather than getting back out on the ice and returning to play. Continue Reading…
Jimmy Clausen, former quarterback for Notre Dame, was seen throwing passes on pro day. This is the first time he has been back in front of NFL personnel since he had right foot surgery.
Friday, during a workout that lasted about 30 minutes, Clausen completed 57 of the attempted 59 passes. All of his short and midway throws seemed to be intact and accurate; however, he did seem to experience some minor issues with timing. The two passes that were missed were long ones that went to Robby Parris, former wide receiver. He attempted to catch one of the passes by diving to catch the ball, but didn’t succeed. Many of the passes were also overshot, which caused the receivers catching his passes to have to reach back a bit in order to successfully catch his pass. Continue Reading…
