AFC Championship Game: New York Jets @ Pittsburgh Steelers Sun. Jan. 23rd 2011 6:30pm EST

This weekend in the NFL playoffs we have two very intriguing matchups, but perhaps the most intriguing will be the New York Jets traveling to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

These two teams have two of the best defenses in the league this season with the ability just completely shut down potent offenses. The Steelers may have the best run defense in the league this year with superstar Troy Polamalu being a running back’s worst nightmare, but the Jets have one of the best all around defenses with Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis intimidating opposing quarterbacks. AFC Championship Game

New York Jets @ Pittsburgh Steelers Sun. Jan. 23rd 2011 6:30pm EST

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets are set to go head-to-head this weekend and what could turn out to be a dogfight from start to finish. Both of these teams have two of the best defenses in the league today and are known for shutting down some of the most potent offenses in the NFL.

Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to get the best of their bitter division rival Baltimore Ravens last weekend, the New York Jets have been arguably one most impressive teams in the playoffs thus far as they have been able to beat two of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time in consecutive weeks by taking down Peyton Manning in the first round and getting the best of Tom Brady last weekend.

It is always tough to pick a winner when a game is dictated by the defense like this one will be, but I believe the Jets are the better all around team coming into this matchup and should get the best of the Steelers regardless of their playoff experience in the past.

Ben Roethlisberger is as tough to stop as any quarterback in this league with his ability to avoid tackles and extend plays, but the Jets defenses up to the task and should contain the two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback this weekend. Below are the latest odds from online sportsbooks.

BetDSI Sportsbook:
Spread: New York Jets +3.5 & Pittsburgh Steelers -3.5
Moneyline: New York Jets +180 & Pittsburgh Steelers -210
Over/Under: New York Jets 110 over & Pittsburgh Steelers 110 under (38)

Bookmaker Sportsbook:
Spread: New York Jets +3.5 & Pittsburgh Steelers -3.5
Moneyline: New York Jets +180 & Pittsburgh Steelers -210
Over/Under: New York Jets 110 over & Pittsburgh Steelers 110 under (38)

NFC Championship Game

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears Sun. Jan. 23rd 2011 3pm EST

The NFL is chock-full of division rivalries that can be extremely entertaining during the regular season, but in the NFC championship game one of the most bitter rivalries in the NFL will take place as the Green Bay Packers will head to the Windy City to take on the NFC North division champion Chicago Bears.

It is no secret that there is no love lost between these two division rivals, but this time around the Super Bowl appearances on the line which takes this rivalry up a notch as this will be arguably one of the biggest games in franchise history for both of these teams.

Even though this game will be played at Soldier Field in Chicago, the Green Bay Packers have been given the edge as they have a -3.5 point spread in their favor coming into the NFC Championship game.

Despite the Chicago Bears defense been as hard to score one as any team in league, I believe the Green Bay Packers have what it takes on offense to get the best of his lockdown defense and should advance to the Super Bowl. Below are the odds for this weekend’s incredible NFL football betting matchup.

BetDSI Sportsbook:
Spread: Green Bay Packers -3.5 & Chicago Bears +3.5
Moneyline: Green Bay Packers -200 & Chicago Bears +170
Over/Under: Green Bay Packers 110 over & Chicago Bears 110 under (43)

Bookmaker Sportsbook:
Spread: Green Bay Packers -3.5 & Chicago Bears +3.5
Moneyline: Green Bay Packers -200 & Chicago Bears +170
Over/Under: Green Bay Packers 110 over & Chicago Bears 110 under (43)

NFC Championship Game: Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears Sun. Jan. 23rd 2011 3pm EST

The NFC North division is about as competitive as it gets in the NFL today as two to three teams within the division are more than capable of winning the division title and possibly contending for Super Bowl title.

This season was a perfect example of that as both the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears have been able to defy the odds and make it all the way to the NFC Championship game. Not only is it fitting that these two teams within the same division were able to make it all the way to the NFC Championship game, but both teams made it their goal this season to be one another in order to judge the success of the year. There are four teams left in contention for trip to the Super Bowl right now, but I believe the their only two teams worthy of going the distance with the New York Jets and the Green Bay Packers being my prediction for the Super Bowl match-up in Arlington, Texas in February.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bears are two very talented football teams that pride themselves on the defensive side of the football, but in terms of heart, motivation and being considered the underdog throughout the entire playoffs, the Packers and the Jets get the edge in my book. There is no question that the Oakland Raiders have been one of the worst NFL franchises over the past eight years or so. They may have been able to make it to the Super Bowl back in 2003 and were considered arguably one of the best teams in the league back then, but ever since they have really struggled to win consistently or even put a competitive football team on the gridiron every single week. Over the past decade or so, there’ve been plenty of quarterbacks in the NFL that have made headlines their impressive play like the New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees, San Diego Chargers’Philip Rivers and the Philadelphia Eagles’ Michael Vick, but no quarterback in the league can be compared to Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts in terms of consistency.

No matter who you compare him with, even Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, Peyton Manning is the cream of the crop at the quarterback position in the NFL today. Continue Reading…

The Chicago Bears made a big move before the beginning of last season by trading for one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the NFL in the then Denver Broncos Pro Bowl gunslinger Jay Cutler. At first glance, the move looked to drastically improve a struggling offense that hasn’t had a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback since the days of Mike Ditka’s Bears back in the 80s.

Unfortunately, Culter really struggled in his first year as the Chicago Bears’ main man under center and was considered somewhat of a bust. Despite his first season in the Windy City being as disappointing as they come, the Bears still had faith in their new starting quarterback and came into this NFL regular season with high hopes of turning things around. There is no love lost between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens as these to AFC North division rivals clearly don’t like each other and that definitely showed this weekend as things got heated in this playoff matchup.

Not only were these two teams drooling at the opportunity to get another shot at one another, but with an AFC Championship bid on the line, this game was huge to say the least. Continue Reading…

The Green Bay Packers have had a rough season this year, but now they are just one win away from representing the NFC Conference in the Super Bowl. In the first round of the playoffs, the Green Bay Packers were able to take down Michael Vick’s Philadelphia Eagles with some lockdown defense.

Coming into the Divisional round, the Green Bay Packers had their work cut out for them as they had to take on the number one seeded Atlanta Falcons at home at the Georgia Dome. Continue Reading…

The New York Jets have become known as a scrappy football team with a lot of players and a head coach that like to talk trash. Not only do they talk a lot of trash, but they back it up with a lockdown defense and a much improved offense led by second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Coming into the NFL playoffs, Rex Ryan and company had the odds against them as they were set to face off against four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning and the high powered offense of the Indianapolis Colts. Even though the New York Jets have arguably one of the best defenses in the league, the Peyton Manning and his boys were favored to come out on top in this Wild-card matchup as they have played as good as any team in the league in the playoffs.
