AFC Divisional Round: New York Jets @ New England Patriots Sun. Jan. 16th 2011 4:30pm EST
It has been yet another successful season for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots as they went from a team that was thought to aging and on the decline to arguably the best team in the NFL. With just two losses on the season to the Cleveland Browns and the New York Jets, the New England Patriots absolutely dominated the competition this season despite trading away one of their best players in perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver Randy Moss and having an unproven defense filled with young and inexperienced players. NFC Divisional Round: Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears Sun. Jan. 16th 2011 1pm EST
The Seattle Seahawks pulled off an impossible win last weekend in the first round of the playoffs as they were able to get the best of the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints despite being -10 point underdogs.
Not only were the Seahawks huge underdogs coming into Wild-card weekend, but they were also the first team in NFL history to make it into the playoffs with a losing record (7-9). With this losing record they were able to win the NFC West division title and create a lot of buzz around their team as most people believed they should have never made the playoffs in the first place. AFC Divisional Round: Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers Sat. Jan. 15th 2011 4:30pm EST
The AFC North division came down to the wire this season as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens battled it out all year long and both finished the season with identical 12-4 records. Even though the Ravens put up a solid record and finished the regular season as arguably one of the best teams in the league, the Steelers won the division title and clinched a first-round bye in the playoffs. NFC Divisional Round: Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons Sat. Jan. 15th 2011 8pm EST
The Atlanta Falcons have been known as a very talented young team over the past couple of years, but it wasn’t until this season that they have started to become considered to be a legitimate Super Bowl title contender.
With Matt Ryan playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Roddy White performing like a Pro Bowl wide receiver and running back Michael Turner having one of his best years as a pro, the Atlanta Falcons have been firing on all cylinders this season and seem to have a legitimate shot at playing in Arlington, Texas next month. It is no secret that there is no love lost between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets as these two AFC East division rivals clearly don’t like each other, but considering that the Patriots embarrassed the Jets back in Week 13 with a 45-3 blowout, New York talking trash before their Divisional round showdown in the playoffs seems a bit ridiculous. About a year ago, one of the most anticipated matchups in the NBA was the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers going head to head against arguably the best team in the Eastern Conference in LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers. This season that is not the case as ever since LeBron James took his talents to South Beach, the Cavs have gone head first into downward spiral that has turned them into arguably the worst team in the league. Over the past three years the Denver Nuggets have been arguably one of the best teams in the Western Conference and most of the success can be attributed to the performance of superstar Carmelo Anthony.
With Anthony being arguably one of the best players in the league and a dominant scorer that can be compared with the likes of Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, the Nuggets have coveted this young stud out of Syracuse, but it appears his time in the Mile High City could quickly be coming to an end as trade rumors have surrounded him all season long. The San Francisco 49ers came into this NFL regular season with high hopes of winning the NFC West division title and quite possibly contending for a Super Bowl title. Not only did they seem to have all the right pieces to the puzzle in place but their head coach Mike Singletary was amongst the most passionate at his position and seem to be the right fit for this football team. There is no lack of division rivalries in the NFL and the entertainment factor can be huge, but these heated rivalries get even better when they carry on into the playoffs.
After a thrilling Wild-card weekend which played host to three extremely entertaining football games that came down to the wire in the fourth quarter, the Divisional round is poised to be even better with two games between bitter division rivals. Continue Reading…
The Seattle Seahawks have had a season filled with disappointment as they started out the season strong and basically struggled throughout the rest of it. The addition of head coach Pete Carroll was definitely a move in the right direction for the Seahawks as they will almost have a bright future, but no one expected them to have even the slightest chance to compete against the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints on Wild-card weekend. Make sure to get in early at the best online sportsbooks as this weekend is going to be key for some incredible NFL football betting action. Continue Reading…
