NFL Playoffs: Baltimore Ravens vs Kansas City Chiefs in AFC Wildcard game

AFC Wildcard: Baltimore Ravens @ Kansas City Chiefs Sun. 9th 2011 1pm EST

The Baltimore Ravens have been arguably one of the best teams in the league all season long and were able to finish the NFL regular season with an impressive 12-4 record, but it wasn’t enough to win the AFC North division title and as a result have been given the 5th seed in the AFC Conference. One of the hardest decisions for elite athletes in college sports these days is deciding between continuing their education and playing another year as a superstar on the college level or cashing in by going pro. No matter who you are or what situation you may be in financially, making millions of dollars doing what you love to do is a dream come true, but I would say about 90% of professional athletes fail to maintain their finances over time and ultimately regret not pursuing another career outside of their sport. The NFL playoffs will be officially underway this weekend and even though there are quite a few intriguing matchups, there is one game that is poised to be a blowout and no contest.

The Seattle Seahawks have been a decent football team all season long with new head coach Pete Carroll calling the shots, but they were unable to finish the year with winning record at 7-9 and still won the NFC West division title and make it into the playoffs. Continue Reading…

The NFL playoffs have officially begun and perhaps the one playoff game that everyone figured would be a blowout might have drastically changed as the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints have suffered some major losses at the running back positions.

Obviously, the New Orleans Saints are not a running football team and haven’t been since the emergence of perennial Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees, but every offense needs at least the threat of a running game to make an offense fire on all cylinders. Continue Reading…

NFC Wildcard: New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks Sat. Jan. 8th 4:30pm EST

The NFL regular season has officially come to an end and Wildcard weekend is upon us as eight teams battle it out for a chance to head to the next round and keep their Super Bowl hopes alive.

Perhaps the one game during Wildcard weekend that will almost certainly be a blowout will be when the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints head to Seattle to take on the lowly Seahawks. Continue Reading…

Over the past decade or so, the Phoenix Suns have been arguably one of the best teams in the Western Conference with a solid chance to compete for an NBA title every single season, but after the team failed to re-sign All-Star forward Amar’e Stoudemire during the offseason, the Suns just haven’t been the same team.

Obviously, when the team has a point guard like two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash running the show, the Suns will always have a shot of at least making the playoffs, but now Phoenix seems to be set on sending their superstar elsewhere. Continue Reading…

During this NFL regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles took a chance on the rehabilitated Michael Vick as their starting quarterback after seeing Kevin Kolb go down with a concussion against the Green Bay Packers.

Even though most people thought Vick would still be a decent starting quarterback for the Eagles, no one saw the former Pro Bowler turning into arguably the best player in the league and such a short amount of time. Not only has the former inmate gotten his quickness back on the ground, but perhaps the most impressive part of his game these days is his accuracy and efficiency through the air. NFC Wildcard: Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles Sun. Jan. 9th 2011 4:30pm EST

Throughout the entire NFL regular season, the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles have gone through some highs and lows, but despite dealing with injury problems, they have been able to make it into the playoffs once again.

Despite the Eagles being the only team to win their division title (NFC East) of these two teams this season, the Packers will have a great chance to pull off the upset in this NFC Wildcard game as they have begun to play well in the last few games of the regular season.

The one thing to watch in this matchup will be the quarterback play as two of the league’s best gunslingers will be going head to head. Aaron Rodgers will be looking to get his Packers offense going early, while NFL MVP candidate Michael Vick will be trying to do the same for the Eagles.

Personally, I believe Vick is the toughest quarterback to defend in this league next to Tom Brady. Not only is Vick without a doubt the fastest quarterback with his feet, but he has finally brought a legitimate passing threat to his game which has taken his team to the next level.

The Philadelphia Eagles will definitely have their work cut out for them moving forward against teams like the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and the top seeded Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Conference playoffs, but they will first have to get the best of the Green Bay Packers who will not be going down without a fight.

As of right now, the Eagles have been given the slight edge in this playoff game with a -3 point spread. Even though I believe the Packers will put up a fight, the Eagles will come out on top in my opinion while covering the spread.

Odds and lines for this matchup by leading online sportsbooks:

Spread: Green Bay Packers +3 & Philadelphia Eagles -3
Moneyline: Green Bay Packers +120 & Philadelphia Eagles -140
Over/Under: Green Bay Packers 110 over & Philadelphia Eagles 110 under (46)

Bookmaker Sportsbook:
Spread: Green Bay Packers +3 & Philadelphia Eagles -3
Moneyline: Green Bay Packers +120 & Philadelphia Eagles -140
Over/Under: Green Bay Packers 110 over & Philadelphia Eagles 110 under (46)

AFC Wildcard: New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts Sat. Jan. 8th 2011 8pm EST

The New York Jets have been a team that has gone through some serious highs and lows this season as they have tried to live up to their Super Bowl title contender expectations while dealing with quite a few off the field issues.

Despite having all sorts of problems on and off the field this season, the New York Jets have been able to make their way back into the playoffs once again and will be facing an old rival in the Indianapolis Colts. Continue Reading…
