Once the three-year $65 million dollar contract extension offer from the Denver Nuggets to superstar forward Carmelo Anthony was left on the table early in the NBA regular season, the league was filled with speculation about what might happen with one of the league’s best players.

The Los Angeles Lakers came into this NBA regular season with high hopes of winning a third straight NBA title and sending legendary head coach Phil Jackson off with his record 12th ring.
