New York Giants @ New York Jets Sat. Dec. 24, 2011 1 p.m. EST
Arguably one of the most anticipated matchups of Week 16 will be the two New York NFL franchises going head-to-head with playoffs hopes on the line for both teams. The New York Giants and the New York Jets haven’t exactly lived up to expectations this season, but both teams still have a shot to clinch a playoff spot if they can get a win on Christmas Eve at New Meadowlands Stadium. Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts Thurs. Dec. 22, 2011 8:20 p.m. EST
With the AFC South division title wrapped up and the first trip to the playoffs in franchise history just weeks away, the Houston Texans have been rolling and finally become a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the AFC Conference. Despite a potentially deep run in the playoffs, the Texans must get through the last two games of the NFL regular season without suffering any injuries and hopefully two more wins added to their record. Ever since second-year quarterback Tim Tebow became the starter for the Denver Broncos, the criticism and media attention surrounding the former Heisman trophy winner has been relentless. Whether the media is heavily criticizing him or making him out to be the savior of the Broncos, Tebow has been talked about more than any quarterback or player in the NFL this season. #1 Green Bay Packers (13-1)
The quest for the perfect season is officially over after the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers were stunned by a motivated Kansas City Chiefs team in Week 15. This loss took everyone by surprise as no one anticipated the Chiefs even putting up a fight against the Packers after the firing of head coach Todd Haley and veteran quarterback Kyle Orton getting his first start with his new team.
Despite the loss, the Packers are still the top dogs on these power rankings and will almost certainly stay there unless there is a collapse in the next two weeks. The Packers will face the arch division rival Chicago Bears on Christmas Day. Continue Reading…
The magical and unlikely run of six straight wins for Tim Tebow and the up-and-coming Denver Broncos is finally over. After suffering the second loss as a starter for the Broncos, Tebow’s record as Denver’s number one gunslinger is 6-2 with the Broncos still in the hunt for the AFC West division title at 8-6. Heading into Week 15, the Green Bay Packers were three games away from completing the perfect regular season. Even though the Detroit Lions looked to be their toughest challenge left on their remaining schedule, the Kansas City Chiefs turned out to be just too much to handle for both the Packers offense and defense. Continue Reading…
Pittsburgh Steelers @ San Francisco 49ers Mon. Dec. 19, 2011 8:30 p.m. EST
After winning the AFC championship game last season and making it back to the Super Bowl for the third time in the Big Ben era in Pittsburgh, the Steelers were considered to still be one of the best teams in the league with a dominant defense leading the way. Coming into this season though, the consensus was that the Steelers were an old team on the decline with little hope of being able to continue to compete with the best of the best in the AFC Conference. Continue Reading…
Baltimore Ravens @ San Diego Chargers Sun. Dec. 18, 2011 8:20 p.m. EST
The Baltimore Ravens are arguably the best team in the AFC Conference this season. With Joe Flacco and company becoming a potent offense and the Ravens continuing to be an elite defense, Baltimore has taken the next step this season and as a result seems to have the AFC North division title wrapped up and a legitimate shot at contending for a Super Bowl title. Continue Reading…
New York Jets @ Philadelphia Eagles Sun. Dec. 18, 2011 4:15 p.m. EST
As arguably the most disappointing team in the NFL this season, the Philadelphia Eagles will come into Week 15 of the regular season with an ugly 5-8 record and no hope for a playoff run. Despite the end of the “Dream Team” season, Michael Vick and company will try to gain some momentum to end the season with some wins in the last three games. Continue Reading…
New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos Sun. Dec. 18, 2011 4:15 p.m. EST
Tim Tebow mania continues in the Mile High City with the second-year quarterback leading the Denver Broncos to a sixth straight win and seven wins in eight games. Even though Tebow has single-handedly led the Broncos from last place to first place in the AFC West division ahead of the arch rival Oakland Raiders, this week’s matchup against the 10-3 New England Patriots will be arguably their toughest test of the season.
