#1 Green Bay Packers (13-0)
The wild ride continues for the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers after Week 14’s dominant win over the Oakland Raiders. With the Packers putting up 40+ points against the Raiders defense, Aaron Rodgers and company are firing on all cylinders and look like they could pull off the perfect regular season with a flawless 16-0 record. With the Kansas City Chiefs surprising everyone last season with an AFC West division title, the consensus was that Matt Cassel and company were a force to be reckoned with in the AFC Conference for years to come. Armed with a vastly improved defense led by Eric Berry and arguably the best running game in the NFL with Jamaal Charles leading the way out of the backfield, the Chiefs were thought to be a playoff contender once again this season, but multiple season-ending injuries to all three players mentioned above Kansas City only won five games heading into Week 15. Over the past few years in Dallas, the Cowboys have had one of the most potent offenses in the NFL with Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo under center and one of the most talented receiving corps in the league. Despite all the talent on the offensive side of the football with names like Jason Witten, Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, the Cowboys have been sorely lacking in the running game with no reliable running back coming out of the backfield. It has been a long time coming, but after nine years of moving up the ranks in the NFL the Houston Texans have finally clinched their first playoff berth in franchise history. Even though this team has been very talented and promising over the years, this season was the year that the NFL’s most recent expansion team became a legitimate force to be reckoned and will try to make a deep run in the playoffs. Oakland Raiders @ Green Bay Packers Sun. Dec. 11, 2011 4:15 p.m. EST
The Oakland Raiders hit a bit of a rough patch last week as they got a lot more than they bargained for against a resurgent Miami Dolphins team. With the Dolphins dominating the Raiders from start to finish, Carson Palmer and company have had to go back to the drawing to see what problems they have on both sides of the football. Continue Reading…
New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys Sun. Dec. 11, 2011 8:20 p.m. EST
Last week the New York Giants defended their home field against the undefeated Green Bay Packers with a much better performance than anticipated. Despite still losing the game to the defending Super Bowl champions, Eli Manning and company may have gotten back on the right track on both sides of the football. Continue Reading…
Chicago Bears @ Denver Broncos Sun. Dec. 11, 2011 4:05 p.m. EST
The Chicago Bears and the Denver Broncos are two NFL teams going in completely different directions. Not all that long ago, the Bears were headed for the playoffs through the NFC Wild Card and would try to dethrone the defending Super Bowl champion and arch rival Chicago Bears. Now that doesn’t appear to be the case with franchise quarterback Jay Cutler going down and the team being handed over to Caleb Haine. Continue Reading…
After Week 13’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, it has become clear that the Chicago Bears are really starting to fall apart without franchise quarterback Jay Cutler under center. With little hope that Cutler will return if the Bears make the playoffs, Chicago has been forced to use backup Caleb Hanie and the results have been awful thus far with the Bears’ offense looking like the worst in the league. Throughout the entire NFL regular season thus far, the Houston Texans have been as advertised with a 9-3 record and a six-game winning streak coming into Week 14. Even though the Texans could win the AFC South division title this weekend with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals and a loss by the Tennessee Titans to the New Orleans Saints, things have gotten extremely complicated for the Texans coaching staff as of late with multiple season-ending injuries at the quarterback position. Houston Texans @ Cincinnati Bengals Sun. Dec. 11, 2011 1 p.m. EST
The Houston Texans will look to keep things going once again in Week 14 as they will go on the road to face off against a very good Cincinnati Bengals squad led by rookie quarterback Andy Dalton. Even though these are two young teams on the rise in the NFL, the Texans will have the edge coming into this matchup with some experienced veterans and a playoff run on the horizon. Continue Reading…
