The Tennessee Titans have been one of the better teams in the AFC conference for quite some time now as they always seem to have an edge on the sidelines with arguably one of the best head coaches in the game in Jeff Fisher.

Not only has Jeff Fisher been around seemingly forever in Tennessee, but he has one Super Bowl appearance, countless playoff games under his belt and is the longest tenured head coach in the NFL today. Continue Reading…

Last season the Chicago Bears were team on the verge of finally being able to turn it around as they were able to bring in a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback to run the offense after making a trade with the Denver Broncos to acquire Jay Cutler.

At first glance, this deal was immediately going to make the Chicago Bears a better football team as they hadn’t had a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback under center since the days of Mike Ditka. Even though Cutler had the potential to be one of the best QBs in this league with a cannon for a throwing arm and the ability to scramble with the best of them, the young quarterback really struggled in his first year under center in the Windy City. The Green Bay Packers came into their NFC Championship showdown with the arch rival Chicago Bears optimistic that they could beat their division rivals and finally get back to the Super Bowl. Even though the Packers had been playing like arguably the best offense in the entire playoffs and getting some good production out of their defense, the consensus was that this game would be close and most likely would come down to a game-winning field goal with time expiring. There are four teams left in contention for trip to the Super Bowl right now, but I believe the their only two teams worthy of going the distance with the New York Jets and the Green Bay Packers being my prediction for the Super Bowl match-up in Arlington, Texas in February.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bears are two very talented football teams that pride themselves on the defensive side of the football, but in terms of heart, motivation and being considered the underdog throughout the entire playoffs, the Packers and the Jets get the edge in my book. There is no love lost between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens as these to AFC North division rivals clearly don’t like each other and that definitely showed this weekend as things got heated in this playoff matchup.

Not only were these two teams drooling at the opportunity to get another shot at one another, but with an AFC Championship bid on the line, this game was huge to say the least. Continue Reading…

NFC Divisional Round: Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears Sun. Jan. 16th 2011 1pm EST

The Seattle Seahawks pulled off an impossible win last weekend in the first round of the playoffs as they were able to get the best of the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints despite being -10 point underdogs.

Not only were the Seahawks huge underdogs coming into Wild-card weekend, but they were also the first team in NFL history to make it into the playoffs with a losing record (7-9). With this losing record they were able to win the NFC West division title and create a lot of buzz around their team as most people believed they should have never made the playoffs in the first place. Over the past three years the Denver Nuggets have been arguably one of the best teams in the Western Conference and most of the success can be attributed to the performance of superstar Carmelo Anthony.

With Anthony being arguably one of the best players in the league and a dominant scorer that can be compared with the likes of Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, the Nuggets have coveted this young stud out of Syracuse, but it appears his time in the Mile High City could quickly be coming to an end as trade rumors have surrounded him all season long. One of the hardest decisions for elite athletes in college sports these days is deciding between continuing their education and playing another year as a superstar on the college level or cashing in by going pro. No matter who you are or what situation you may be in financially, making millions of dollars doing what you love to do is a dream come true, but I would say about 90% of professional athletes fail to maintain their finances over time and ultimately regret not pursuing another career outside of their sport. NFC Wildcard: Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles Sun. Jan. 9th 2011 4:30pm EST

Throughout the entire NFL regular season, the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles have gone through some highs and lows, but despite dealing with injury problems, they have been able to make it into the playoffs once again.

Despite the Eagles being the only team to win their division title (NFC East) of these two teams this season, the Packers will have a great chance to pull off the upset in this NFC Wildcard game as they have begun to play well in the last few games of the regular season.

The one thing to watch in this matchup will be the quarterback play as two of the league’s best gunslingers will be going head to head. Aaron Rodgers will be looking to get his Packers offense going early, while NFL MVP candidate Michael Vick will be trying to do the same for the Eagles.

Personally, I believe Vick is the toughest quarterback to defend in this league next to Tom Brady. Not only is Vick without a doubt the fastest quarterback with his feet, but he has finally brought a legitimate passing threat to his game which has taken his team to the next level.

The Philadelphia Eagles will definitely have their work cut out for them moving forward against teams like the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and the top seeded Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Conference playoffs, but they will first have to get the best of the Green Bay Packers who will not be going down without a fight.

As of right now, the Eagles have been given the slight edge in this playoff game with a -3 point spread. Even though I believe the Packers will put up a fight, the Eagles will come out on top in my opinion while covering the spread.
