NFC Divisional Round: Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons Sat. Jan. 15th 2011 8pm EST
The Atlanta Falcons have been known as a very talented young team over the past couple of years, but it wasn’t until this season that they have started to become considered to be a legitimate Super Bowl title contender.
With Matt Ryan playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Roddy White performing like a Pro Bowl wide receiver and running back Michael Turner having one of his best years as a pro, the Atlanta Falcons have been firing on all cylinders this season and seem to have a legitimate shot at playing in Arlington, Texas next month. Despite the Falcons playing like arguably the best team in the NFC Conference right now and locking up a much needed first-round bye in the playoffs, they will be tested in their first playoff matchup as they will be going up against a hungry Green Bay Packers squad led by perennial Pro Bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The Packers may have been ravaged by injuries all season long and still struggle getting the ground game going without running back Ryan Grant coming out of the backfield, but they keep getting the job done and are coming off an impressive win over Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles.
As of right now, the Atlanta Falcons have been favored to come out on top in this showdown between NFC Conference heavyweights with a -2 point spread.
Even though I believe that Matt Ryan and company will be extremely tough to beat this weekend, especially due to the fact that they will be playing at the Georgia Dome, the Packers are being a bit underestimated here.
If Aaron Rodgers plays at a high level under center, the Packers will get the win in my opinion as they can be a very dangerous team when their superstar quarterback is playing up to his potential.
So I see an upset here as the Green Bay Packers should pull of the slight upset.
