Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Sun. Feb. 6, 2011 6:29 p.m. EST
The big game has finally arrived as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers are set to do battle on the NFL’s biggest stage in Arlington, Texas at Cowboys Stadium.
With two full weeks filled with anticipation, hype and endless media coverage this game has been dissected and analyzed to death. Even though many people have made a case for both of these teams coming out on top in Super Bowl XLV, the Green Bay Packers have seemed to tilt the scales as they are favored with a -2.5 point spread heading into Super Bowl Sunday.
The main attraction of Super Bowl XLV will be on the defensive side of the football. With both the Packers and the Steelers be an extremely talented on defense, this game has the potential to be a low-scoring affair and a hard-fought battle all the way up to the final whistle in the fourth quarter.
The one thing getting seriously overlooked in this football game though in my opinion is the offense of the Green Bay Packers. After losing running back Ryan Grant in week one against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Green Bay Packers have had virtually no running game as perennial Pro bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers has had to put the team on his back and actually leads the team in rushing touchdowns.
It’s no secret that Rodgers is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league today as he has the ability to hurt opposing defenses with both his legs and his arm. Although he is no Michael Vick in terms of speed, Aaron Rodgers is known for his elusiveness once outside the pocket. The Pro Bowl quarterback has the ability to make people miss and get a first down when the team really needs it with his legs.
Coming into this game, Aaron Rodgers is the favorite to win the Super Bowl MVP and lead his team to a Super Bowl title, but he will have to face the likes of the Steelers James Harrison and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Troy Polamalu.
The key to this game is without a doubt a head-to-head battle between Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers defense. It’s James Harrison and company can figure out a way to contain the versatile quarterback, I believe the Steelers have a good chance of winning yet another Super Bowl title which would be their second in three years.
Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers chances and experience in this game, I believe ultimately the Green Bay Packers will come out on top as they are just a better all around football team in my opinion with a solid offense and a defense that can compete with the best of them.
