The one team in the NFL that has made more drastic moves than any other team in the league this offseason is the Washington Redskins. Not only were they able to hire one of the best NFL head coaches of all-time in Mike Shanahan, but they were also able to make a deal for six-time Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb which without a doubt is huge improvement for this struggling offense. The Redskins are predicted by many sports betting sites to finish last in the NFC East.
Along with conforming to a new head coach’s game plan and adjusting to having a superstar quarterback behind center, the Washington Redskins have also had to deal with a teammate that has thought about nothing, but himself and making a lot of money in the meantime.
Recently, two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle and $100 million dollar man Albert Haynesworth caused some major problems for the Redskins as he basically came out and demanded a trade after learning that the new defensive scheme would give him a lesser role.
The one thing that made this extremely surprising and disturbing to the Washington franchise was that the Haynesworth just received a $21 million dollar bonus back in April. Not only did this not set well with the Redskins brass, but it sent shockwaves throughout the Washington organization and its players as Haynesworth was officially labeled as a poor teammate.
Reportedly, since that time, trade talk involving Haynesworth has calmed down considerably and team seems to be moving forward with the defensive tackle still in their future plans.
Even though Albert Haynesworth will be staying with the Washington Redskins, at least for the time being, head coach Mike Shanahan has some standards that he must meet if he expects to practice with the team.
Apparently, Shanahan has said that the defensive tackle must past a fitness/conditioning tests in order to get back on the gridiron. The first series of tests started this week, but unfortunately, Haynesworth was unable to finish the second part of the test and will not be able to practice. At this point, Washington are +2500 in winning Superbowl XLV according to the best online sportsbooks..
