The PGA Tour second event this season, the Quail Hollow Championship, has commenced and Tiger Woods has gotten off to a great start early this morning in the first round of the Championship.  It was a bit chilly to begin with this morning but Woods hasn’t let the weather affect his playing ability thus far.

He started off with a birdie for the 10th hole at par-5; however, he quickly made up for that two holes afterward with a bogey.  He was approximately fifty yards from the green.  He was able to pitch up to about 12 feet but then he was unable to close the deal with the par putt. In Woods’ first six holes, he is even par.

Woods may have started off well first thing this morning, but he is now suffering a bit and trying to get caught up.  Woods has discovered the water and walked away with a double bogey from Hole 17.  After finding the water, he re-teeded and was able to make it to the green.

When Woods made it to “The Green Mile” (the final three holes, which is the toughest area of the course), Woods didn’t handle it so great.  At this time, he was 6 over for the 17th hole on par-3 and 4 over on the 18th hole at Quail Hollow.

What is safe to say, though, is that Woods is not the only one finding struggle today as Stewart Cink and Angel Cabrera, the other members of his tournament group, are 2 over and even respectively.  At this time, though, approximately 10:40 am ET, they do seem to be coming back up the stacks with a 35-foot birdie made by Cink and a 14-foot birdie made by Woods.

Since the Masters, this is Tiger Woods first appearance in a PGA tournament.  The Masters was his debut of 2010 after he had been off the charts due to a break and a sex scandal respectively.

UPDATE:  Upon finishing Round 1 at Quail Hollow Club, Woods finds himself two over par.
