On Tuesday morning, the sports world was rocked once again by the great Brett Favre as people learned that he had decided to retire for the game he loves.

Even though this shouldn’t be a surprise up to this point in the Brett Favre saga, most people were shocked to hear the news as Favre has arguably his best chance of winning a second Super Bowl title next season behind center for the Minnesota Vikings.

Last season was a breath of fresh air for Favre and company as the Vikings were able to get all the way to the NFC championship and take the eventual Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints to the limit in a game that was decided in overtime.

With that being said, the league and his critics realized that Brett Favre still has what it takes to compete at this level and still be considered one of the best quarterbacks in this league. So assuming that he was coming back was a safe bet, but on Tuesday that all changed as he was seemingly heading towards announcing his retirement.

Well, that was short lived as just a day later Brett Favre has claimed that he said no such thing and still hasn’t made his decision about playing next season.

Reportedly, Favre is still debating on his return due to his ailing ankle injury which is still recovering from surgery. When or if Favre knows whether or not the ankle will hold up for another NFL regular season and into the playoffs, the Silver Fox will announce his intentions to stay or retire.

Next week the 11-time Pro Bowler has a doctor’s appointment which might help him determined his future, but I am betting we won’t find out what he intends to do until the end of the Minnesota Vikings training camp.
