During this NFL regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles took a chance on the rehabilitated Michael Vick as their starting quarterback after seeing Kevin Kolb go down with a concussion against the Green Bay Packers.
Even though most people thought Vick would still be a decent starting quarterback for the Eagles, no one saw the former Pro Bowler turning into arguably the best player in the league and such a short amount of time. Not only has the former inmate gotten his quickness back on the ground, but perhaps the most impressive part of his game these days is his accuracy and efficiency through the air.
With Michael Vick becoming the perfect hybrid quarterback in the NFL and possibly leading his Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl this season, all eyes have been drawn to superstar college football quarterback Cam Newton with the Auburn Tigers.
There are some pretty glaring similarities between Vick and Newton as their games are as close a comparison as we have seen in terms of multiple threat quarterbacks. Obviously, Newton still has to get it done on the NFL level, but he has shown with his Heisman trophy worthy performance this season with Auburn that he just might be the next big thing in the NFL.
In the meantime, Cam Newton will lead his undefeated #1 Auburn Tigers into Glendale, Arizona this Monday to take on a very good football team in the Oregon Ducks. Not only is an undefeated season on the line here, but also a BCS Championship which will define the season for one of these two dominant college football teams.
In my opinion, this kid is the next Michael Vick, but he will still have to prove that he can get it done when the pressure is on in a title game like the BCS Championship.
As of right now, Auburn is the favorite with a -2 point spread and I believe they will be led to victory with yet another dominant performance from their superstar quarterback.
