If it isn’t the substance abuse policy or the performance enhancing policy, it’s the personal conduct policy.  We see plenty of all of three of these policies being violating by NFL players and it probably isn’t ever going to let up.

Once again, the NFL’s personal conduct policy has been violated and it has caused a one game suspension for 24-year-old Aqib Talib, cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which was officially announced by the NFL on Tuesday.  He was initially arrested last year due to a cab driver allegedly stating that the cornerback hit him (punched him).  He was first charged with resisting arrest as well as simple battery.  Talib, as a result, entered into a diversion program, which included classes for anger management.

Tampa Bay plays the Cleveland Browns at home for the regular season opener on September 12 but they will play without Talib, who will miss this single game without pay, which according to ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas, he will lose around $83,000.  He’s an awesome cornerback for the Bucs and has huge potential in the NFL.  He was drafted out of the 2008 NFL Draft in the first round out of Kansas.  Last season, Talib recorded five interceptions as well as 64 tackles and in his NFL career of two years, he has recorded nine interceptions as well as 87 tackles.

Without Talib performing in the first game of the 2010 NFL season, Tampa Bay will likely turn to their second-year E.J. Biggers who was drafted out of Western Michigan in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft.  His preseason has been impressive for the coaches so as long as he shows that same skill and playing ability on the field in the season opener, he’ll probably get a decent amount of play time this season with the Bucs.
