After Week 13’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, it has become clear that the Chicago Bears are really starting to fall apart without franchise quarterback Jay Cutler under center. With little hope that Cutler will return if the Bears make the playoffs, Chicago has been forced to use backup Caleb Hanie and the results have been awful thus far with the Bears’ offense looking like the worst in the league.

The Donovan McNabb era in Minnesota is officially over as the Vikings have decided to waive the veteran quarterback in order to avoid paying the $1.6 million remaining on his contract for this season. With that being said, the 13-year veteran will be available to be picked up by other teams around the league and with all the recent injuries to starting quarterback like Jay Cutler (Chicago Bears), Matt Cassel (Kansas City Chiefs), Matt Schaub (Houston Texans) and Matt Leinart (Houston Texans) there should be no shortage of interested parties.

Fortunately, the Chicago Bears were given an interesting option on Monday when Brett Favre said that he would listen to an offer from the team if they wanted him to come in and save the season. If this were to happen, the Chicago Bears would be the third NFC North division team that the future Hall of Famer has played for, but reportedly the retired gunslinger hasn’t gotten any calls from the Bears as they are currently saying there is no interest.

At this point in time, the season is in serious jeopardy for the Chicago Bears because they do have a chance to clinch a playoff spot through the NFC Wild Card, but Caleb Haine isn’t the answer for the offense. As if Haine struggling as the starter isn’t bad enough, star running back Matt Forte has also gone down with a knee injury that could keep him out for the season.

Basically, the roof is caving in on the once playoff bound Bears and if they don’t make a move to address the problem on offense they will miss the postseason and a chance to get a little revenge against the arch division rival Green Bay Packers. Brett Favre is a good option for this team and something they should consider, but the Bears seem reluctant to make the move.

One Response to “Chicago Bears reportedly not interested in Brett Favre”

  1. Don Bistrow says:

Are you an idiot Ryan? I think so. All I hear is blame Caleb Hanie (BTW, you couldn’t even spell his name correctly on the first try.) Is this like Obama blaming Bush for everything?

How many times has Hanie begun a drive from his end-zone or inside the ten yard line? Plenty of times.

Your top running back goes down. Your offensive line can’t protect you. Your defense fails. So it’s all the QBs fault and all the geniuses can only go after one player forgetting it’s really a team sport with many areas that effect the entire game.

So get a life – Favre? What kind of shape is he in? One sack and he’d be drooling from his mouth muttering something about Cajun cooking. Caleb Hanie is not as bad as the so-called experts would have you believe.

And did I mention all those dropped passes? Oh, that’s Hanie’s fault to.
