The San Francisco 49ers came into this NFL regular season with high hopes of winning the NFC West division title and quite possibly contending for a Super Bowl title. Not only did they seem to have all the right pieces to the puzzle in place but their head coach Mike Singletary was amongst the most passionate at his position and seem to be the right fit for this football team.
Obviously, that didn’t turn out to be the case as this season was an absolute disaster from start to finish for the San Francisco 49ers as they fail to live up to expectations and fired their head coach just one game before the end of the regular season.
Needless to say, many changes seem to be on the rise in for the San Francisco 49ers as they have or he hired a new head coach in Jim Harbaugh formerly of Stanford. Even though Harbaugh was courted by many teams around the NFL wants the playoffs began, it seems that he wanted to stay by the Bay in excepted of the job the 49ers.
One of the biggest concerns for Jim Harbaugh and the San Francisco 49ers this offseason will be finding a new starting quarterback as it is becoming clear that Alex Smith and Troy Smith are not the answer under center.
Despite in recent years quarterbacks being hard to find in this league, there will be no shortage of candidates in the NFL draft and around the league as there will be many free agents floating around like Matt Hassellback, Matt Leinart, Vince Young and Donovan McNabb.
Out of the four names mentioned, most likely candidate would be former Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles gunslinger Donovan McNabb.
With McNabb’s one-year stint in Washington going as bad as it did, the six-time Pro Bowler is on his way and will be looking for a new home this offseason with San Francisco being an intriguing option for the veteran quarterback.
