The Dallas Cowboys have cut it close once again in the NFL regular season as they will now have to battle it out with the division rival New York Giants for the NFC East division title in the final week of the regular season. This NFC East showdown was setup due to the Giants getting the best of the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Christmas Day. This game was practically a playoff game for the Giants and they were able to come on top to setup another playoff-like matchup against the Cowboys in Week 17.
Not only has the drama in the NFC East been kicked into high gear because of this game in the final week of the regular season, but Cowboys’ superstar quarterback Tony Romo might not be a 100% when he suits up against the Giants. With a hand injury suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16, Romo throwing hand blew up on the sidelines as he could only watch his team struggle against the arch rival Eagles.
The injury looked pretty bad, especially since it was on his throwing hand, but Romo is supposedly going to be good to go against the New York Giants. This is great news for America’s Team as the Dallas Cowboys haven’t been all that great when using a backup which in this case is Stephen McGee.
After Tony Romo went down with the hand injury, Stephen McGee stepped in and could only lead the Dallas Cowboys to one scoring drive. McGee finished with 182 yards and one passing touchdown. This made the Cowboys a bit worried about their quarterback situation with the playoffs looming, but with Romo saying his good to go Dallas will not pursue signing a veteran quarterback.
