There is no question that the Oakland Raiders have been one of the worst NFL franchises over the past eight years or so. They may have been able to make it to the Super Bowl back in 2003 and were considered arguably one of the best teams in the league back then, but ever since they have really struggled to win consistently or even put a competitive football team on the gridiron every single week.
Coming into this past NFL regular season, it looked like there might be some light at the end of the tunnel for the Oakland Raiders as they had a promising squad full of talented players. Like most years though, people never really took the Raiders serious until they started racking up the wins and threatening to win the AFC West division title.
Ironically enough, despite going a perfect 6-0 in divisional play, the Oakland Raiders failed to win the AFC West division title which ultimately went to the Kansas City Chiefs. This is the first time in NFL history this has happened, but it was still a turning point for the Raiders as it had become obvious they were a vastly improved football team.
When the main reasons for their turnaround over the past two seasons has been leadership on the sidelines with head coach Tom Cable calling the shots. In classic Raider fashion though and despite having the best season since 2002, infamous owner Al Davis still neglected to keep Tom Cable as the two butted heads all season long.
As a result of getting rid of yet another head coach, Al Davis went and promoted his offensive coordinator Hue Jackson as his new head coach. This seems to be a popular pick amongst the critics as Jackson seemed to be the perfect fit, but then again is there really a perfect fit for the head-coaching job of an Al Davis owned football team.

Ya, they had a pretty good season this year as their offense showed some really good signs for Raiders fans. I have been waiting for their running game to kick into gear, and although they are not quite there yet, McFadden finally showed why fans expect so much from him. He has good potential.
i think Al needs to just let the coachs coach. It takes more than one year. Just because we didnt have a perfect season we had a better one than we have in the past 8 seasons so if it wasnt a loseing season then it was a good season in my eyes if tom didnt do anything wrong then he shouldnt have lost his job.
