Over the past decade or so, there’ve been plenty of quarterbacks in the NFL that have made headlines their impressive play like the New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees, San Diego Chargers’Philip Rivers and the Philadelphia Eagles’ Michael Vick, but no quarterback in the league can be compared to Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts in terms of consistency.

No matter who you compare him with, even Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, Peyton Manning is the cream of the crop at the quarterback position in the NFL today.

This season was a perfect example of that as his receiving corps were almost completely depleted because of injuries and he still was able to lead the Indianapolis Colts to and AFC South division title and back into the playoffs.

There is no question that Manning struggled at times without his favorite target in perennial Pro Bowl tight end Dallas Clark, but he was still able to get the job done and ultimately got back into the postseason which is always the ultimate goal.

Now Manning didn’t get another MVP award, which will almost certainly go to Brady, and was knocked out of the first round of the playoffs by the New York Jets, but he is still very deserving of being given the distinction as the highest-paid player in the NFL.

That is exactly what the Indianapolis Colts intend to do during this off-season as they will lock up their four-time NFL MVP quarterback to the enormous deal which will keep him in the Colts uniform for the rest of his career and make him the highest-paid player.

The details of Manning’s new deal haven’t been disclosed just yet, but it will be considerable and should keep him in Indianapolis until the superstar QB decides to hang them up.
