NFC Divisional Round: Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears Sun. Jan. 16th 2011 1pm EST
The Seattle Seahawks pulled off an impossible win last weekend in the first round of the playoffs as they were able to get the best of the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints despite being -10 point underdogs.
Not only were the Seahawks huge underdogs coming into Wild-card weekend, but they were also the first team in NFL history to make it into the playoffs with a losing record (7-9). With this losing record they were able to win the NFC West division title and create a lot of buzz around their team as most people believed they should have never made the playoffs in the first place.
Despite all the controversy surrounding the Seattle Seahawks making the playoffs, Pete Carroll and company were able to defend their home field with pride as they basically dominated the New Orleans Saints with some impressive play on the offensive side of the football. Not sure how good of an NFL football betting matchup this is, but check out the odds below for the best wagering sportsbooks.
In the Divisional round, the Seattle Seahawks will be big underdogs once again as the Chicago Bears have been given the edge with a -10 point spread.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Seahawks will have to pull off yet another miracle to win this game over the Bears, but being a team with nothing to lose makes them very dangerous in a playoff situation.
The one thing that the Bears will have that the Saints didn’t is a lockdown defense. With Julius Peppers and Brian Urlacher putting constant pressure on veteran quarterback Matt Hassellback, the Seahawks offense will almost certainly struggle.
The Chicago Bears should come out on top in this matchup and advance to the NFC Conference championship to face either the division rival Green Bay Packers or the top seeded Atlanta Falcons, but I don’t think they will cover the -10 point spread here.
