Oakland Raiders @ Tennessee Titans Sun. Sept. 12th 1pm EST
Coming into the NFL regular season, the Oakland Raiders will be looking to finally get back into playoff contention in the AFC Conference, but they will have their work cut out for them in Week 1 against the up and coming Tennessee Titans.
As of today, the Raiders are 6 point underdogs according to the top online sportsbooks like Bookmaker.
Not only were the Tennessee Titans very impressive in the second half of the season last year after losing six straight games, but they saw arguably the best running back in the game emerge in Chris Johnson. With 2,006 rushing yards to his credit Johnson was on the verge of breaking some all-time records, but he fell just short.
This season the Pro Bowl running back will be aiming for 2,500 rushing yards and the NFL MVP as he tries to lead the Tennessee Titans back into the playoffs.
Along with the emergence of Chris Johnson in the backfield, the Titans saw their face of the franchise get back to form as quarterback Vince Young looked like the player of old and played a big part in the Titans late season charge last year.
The one intriguing part of this season opener between the Raiders and the Titans will be the Oakland defense against the Tennessee running game.
Obviously, the Raiders will have their hands full with Chris Johnson coming out of the Titans backfield, but they seem up to the task as they have upgraded their run defense this offseason with the addition of former Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain.
Even though most people are picking the Tennessee Titans to come out on top in this Week 1 matchup, I believe the Oakland Raiders will surprise some people as they will come out on top in what will almost certainly be a very low scoring affair.
