New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons Mon. Dec. 27th 2010 8:30pm EST
The NFC South division has been amongst the most competitive in the NFL this season and has come down to just one game to decide the division title. This Monday night, the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints will take on the division-leading Atlanta Falcons in what will almost certainly be the game of the week and possibly the game of the year.
Coming into this NFC South division showdown, the Atlanta Falcons have already clinched a playoff spot and basically convinced most people that they are the team to beat in the NFC Conference, but they will have their hands full in Week 16 with the defending champs who are looking to prove that they are still a serious threat to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
Even though this game will be a hard fought battle from start to finish as neither team will be backing down, it would be hard to argue that the Falcons don’t have the edge in this matchup as they are undefeated at home this season with a 6-0 record.
Along with having the impressive record at home and being winners of their last eight games, the Falcons will also have the point spread in their favor at -2.5. Even though I believe the defending champs will have a good shot of pulling off the upset in this matchup, in the end Matt Ryan and company should come out on top as they are the better all around football team in my opinion.
Even with a loss in Week 16, the New Orleans Saints are most likely playoff bound, but they will have lost the opportunity to win the NFC South division for the second straight year.
