Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers Sun. Jan. 2nd 2010 4:15pm EST
The Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers are two division rivals in the NFC North that really don’t like each other. Most division rivals don’t like each other anyway, but these two storied franchises have a passion for beating one another each and every season.
This year both these teams set the goal of beating the other first and winning the NFC North division title second. If that doesn’t tell you how much they hate each other, I don’t know what will, but even though the Chicago Bears have already won the division title, this game has huge playoff implications for the Green Bay Packers.
If the Packers can get the best of the Bears in Week 17, Green Bay will instantly be playoff bound as they will clinch one of the two NFC Wildcard spots, but if they lose they are done and will have failed to live up to expectations this season.
Personally, I believe the Green Bay Packers are the better all around team as they have one of the best offenses in the league led by perennial Pro Bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers and a lockdown defense led by reigning Defensive Players of the Year Charles Woodson and one of the best pass rushers in the league in Clay Matthews.
With a potent punch on offense that lit up the New York Giants defense for 45 points last week and a defense that can seemingly contain any offense, the Green Bay Packers are an extremely dangerous team, but they will have to contend with the likes of the Chicago Bears defense that would love to end the Green Bay Packers hopes of being playoff bound.
My gut tells me the Packers will come out on top this time around as they looked as good as any team in the league last week and will be defending their home field at Lambeau.
