A couple of years ago, the AFC East showdown between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots wouldn’t have been much of a matchup at all as Tom Brady and company were by far the better team, but this season times have changed as the Jets have become a legitimate Super Bowl title contenders with arguably the best defense in the league coming into their head to head matchup with their division rivals.

Even though the Patriots aren’t exactly the dominant team of old, they did play really well in Week 1 by dominating the revamped Cincinnati Bengals with a 38-24 victory, but they will definitely have their work cut out for them in Week 2 against Darrelle Revis and the New York Jets defense as Rex Ryan’s squad will look to bounce from the Week 1 loss to the Baltimore Ravens with a win over their division rivals.

This weeks matchup has the Pats at -3 as favorites to beat the Jets by leading online sportsbooks, but after last weeks loss, this could go either way for the Jets, so pretty expected odds.

This AFC East division showdown without doubt has the potential to be the game of the week as neither one of these teams will be backing down to the other, but the one thing to watch for in this Week 2 matchup will be the Jets offense and how well they will be able to move the football against the Patriots defense.

There is no question that the New England is a shell of its former self, but they played well in Week 1 and will look to do the same in Week 2 by trying to force second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez into making some bad decisions this Sunday at New Meadowlands Stadium.

Personally, I believe the Patriots will fall to 1-1 this weekend as they will struggle to score against this lockdown Jets defense, but Tom Brady still has a few tricks up his sleeve and could lead his team to victory. To see all NFL football betting odds for Week 2, check out Bodog Sportsbook.
