Washington Redskins vs Philadelphia Eagles Sun. Oct. 4:15pm EST
In the NFL offseason the Philadelphia Eagles made perhaps their boldest move in the franchise’s history by trading was their face of the franchise in six-time Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb to the division rival Washington Redskins.
Over the past five years or so, rumors about the Eagles possibly trading away McNabb seemed to be something that happened in every offseason as it seemed that the perennial Pro Bowler was unable to lead this team back to the Super Bowl. Even though the Eagles never made back to the Super Bowl in the Donovan McNabb era, the consensus was that the franchise quarterback was a success in his 11 years in Philly and always gave the team a shot to contend in the NFC East division and in the NFC Conference, but it was time to part ways as the Eagles shipped him to the nation’s capital.
Fortunately, both the Redskins and the Eagles have seemed to have benefited from this blockbuster trade as Washington has finally gotten that franchise caliber quarterback and Philadelphia has been able to get Kevin Kolb and now Michael Vick into the mix under center.
In Week 4, Donovan McNabb will make his first trip to Philly in a Washington Redskins uniform to take on his former team and new starting quarterback Michael Vick.
Even though there are some pretty big story lines heading into his NFC East showdown, the consensus around the league is that this will be a very good football game between two teams that could be playoff bound at season’s end.
The Washington Redskins may be coming off a disappointing loss to the St. Louis Rams, but they are still considered to be a force to be reckoned with.
As of right now, the Philadelphia Eagles are favored to win this matchup with a -6 point spread, but I believe this game will be extremely competitive and will come down to the wire with game most likely being decided with a field goal in the fourth quarter.
