The Seattle Seahawks have had a season filled with disappointment as they started out the season strong and basically struggled throughout the rest of it. The addition of head coach Pete Carroll was definitely a move in the right direction for the Seahawks as they will almost have a bright future, but no one expected them to have even the slightest chance to compete against the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints on Wild-card weekend. As -10 point underdogs coming into last Saturday’s matchup against the Saints, the odds were definitely against them and everyone anticipated a blow out by New Orleans, but that seemingly didn’t face the Seahawks one bit as they came out firing on all cylinders with veteran quarterback Matt Hassellback.

Ironically enough, the Seahawks didn’t even know what quarterback they were going to go with since Charlie Whitehurst was able to lead this team to victory over the division rival St. Louis Rams just a week before. Not only did Whitehurst lead Seattle to a playoff berth and a NFC West division title, but he seemed to be in the good graces of Pete Carroll.

Unfortunately for Whitehurst, the former USC head coach decided to go with his veteran quarterback instead and the results were better than anyone could have hopes as he had quite possibly the best game of his career with 272 yards, four touchdowns and just one interception.

Needless to say, with Matt Hassellback playing as if he were ten years younger, the Seattle Seahawks went on to beat the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints 41-36.

Even though this upset was incredible to say the least and definitely a momentum builder moving forward, the Seattle Seahawks will have their work cut out for them yet again this weekend against the Chicago Bears.
