The one thing that has everyone talking heading into Super Bowl XLV is:

Which team has the better defense?

There is no question that the Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most dominant defenses in the NFL for quite some time now as they have players like Troy Polamalu and James Harrison striking fear in opposing running backs and quarterbacks, but whether or not they are collectively better than the Green Bay Packers on that side of the football remains to be seen.

With Aaron Rodgers being one of the best quarterbacks in the league and the Green Bay Packers offense being as about as good as it gets in the league, the Packers defense has taken a backseat to the offense which may be a blessing in disguise.

Even though the Packers defense doesn’t get the credit it deserves they are amongst the league leaders in many categories and have two of the best defensive players in the NFL in Clay Matthews and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Charles Woodson. With the Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense in the spotlight, the defense has been able to fly under the radar despite being extremely dominant.

Coming into this epic Super Bowl showdown at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the talented defenses of these two teams will be playing on the biggest stage and in my opinion the Green Bay Packers will prove just how good they are on the defensive side of the football.

This game should be a dogfight from start to finish, but keep your eye on Clay Matthews as I anticipate him having a big day and being Ben Roethlisberger’s worst nightmare. Charles Woodson could also have a big impact if the Steelers try to get some offense going through the air.
