The Donovan McNabb era in Minnesota is officially over as the Vikings have decided to waive the veteran quarterback in order to avoid paying the $1.6 million remaining on his contract for this season. With that being said, the 13-year veteran will be available to be picked up by other teams around the league and with all the recent injuries to starting quarterback like Jay Cutler (Chicago Bears), Matt Cassel (Kansas City Chiefs), Matt Schaub (Houston Texans) and Matt Leinart (Houston Texans) there should be no shortage of interested parties.
Obviously, Donovan McNabb is not the dominant perennial Pro Bowler he once was with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he still might have some value for a team like the Chicago Bears or Houston Texans that are looking to make a run into the playoffs this season. The one team that makes the most sense for McNabb to join would be the Chicago Bears as he is a Windy City native and would help solve the quarterback problem as Caleb Haine doesn’t seem to be the answer.
Unfortunately, the Chicago Bears just signed veteran quarterback Josh McCown and probably won’t be interested in adding yet another quarterback. With that being said, the logical choice would be the Houston Texans picking him up off waivers and agreeing to pay the rest of his contract.
With Matt Leinart going down last week with a broken collarbone that will keep him on the sidelines and T.J. Yates not looking like the answer for this team in the short-term, Donovan McNabb would be the ideal addition for this playoff bound team. Now that the Texans seem to be on the verge of winning the AFC South division title and making the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, McNabb could help this team in the postseason under center.

What a shame that the average fan doesn’t realize that Von Miller is the force behind Denver’s recent wins.
