Dodgers’ Walker Buehler Returning From Elbow Injury In This Season

Walker Buehler’s 2023 season was expected to be finished before it even got started after he had flexor tendon and his second Tommy John surgery last season. It’s possible that the right-hander may make his season debut in September, as both manager Dave Roberts and pitcher Buehler voiced optimism about his comeback.
Given that Dustin May is out for the season and that both Clayton Kershaw and Ryan Pepiot are still recovering from injuries, a return to the rotation would be beneficial for the Dodgers.
The rotation is led by three rookies, Bobby Miller, Emmet Sheehan, and Michael Grove, who have combined for a 4.71 ERA in their nine starts since the All-Star break, despite the recent arrival of Lance Lynn.
A rotation with one of the lowest team ERAs in baseball would be strengthened by the addition of Buehler, since Julio Uras and Tony Gonsolin have both significantly declined this season.
According to a tweet from Fox Sports’ Rowan Kavner, Buehler’s season debut a “viable possibility” according to Roberts.
Even though it may be unrealistic to expect Buehler to start games this season, Roberts continued, “If we have him available in any capacity, that’s good for us.”
On Friday, Buehler shared a video of himself throwing a bullpen session to his personal Instagram account, demonstrating improvement in his condition.
