With the NBA All-Star weekend right around the corner, the league has started to pick the players they want to participate in the various contests like the Slam Dunk Contest, Skills Challenge and the Three Point Shootout.

This year the lineup for the Three-Point Shootout is extremely talented from top to bottom with two teammates leading the way. The NBA usually never lets teammates compete against each other in these contests as you can only have one player per team, but this season they made an exception as the Boston Celtics Ray Allen and defending champion Paul Pierce will both be participating.

Ironically enough, just a little more than a week before All-Star weekend, Ray Allen became the league’s all-time leader in three-pointers made as he past Reggie Miller with his 2,561 made three-pointer against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Here is the list of contestants for this season’s Three-Point Shootout:

Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder

Durant is leading the league in scoring once again as he is arguably the best scorer in the NBA, but even though he can seemingly score at will, this kid can drain them from deep!

Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics

Last year Paul Pierce was an unlikely contestant for the Three-Point Shootout, but he wanted to prove to the rest of the league that he can shoot from beyond the arc with the best of them. Well, he did just that as he edged out rookie Stephon Curry to win the Three-Point Shootout.

Ray Allen, Boston Celtics

It would hard to argue that Ray Allen isn’t the best shooter on this list and of all-time for that matter. With the prettiest stroke in the league Allen will look to win his second Three-Point Shootout of his career.

James Jones, Miami Heat

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade may grab all the headlines in South Beach, but James Jones is the guy that gets it done from beyond the arc and could be the dark horse to win this contest.

Dorell Wright, Golden State Warriors

Stephon Curry may be considered the best shooter on the Golden State Warriors, but not far behind him is Dorell Wright and he will look to prove that point on All-Star weekend.

Daniel Gibson, Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers may be arguably the worst team in the NBA right now with seemingly no hope for the future, but Daniel Gibson is amongst the best shooters in the league. He could be a sleeper in this contest.
