Coming into the final stretch of the NBA regular season, the San Antonio Spurs are without a doubt the best all around team in the NBA. Not only do they have the best record of 49-10, but they are the only team the league that has played consistently well throughout the entire season with no real injury problems.

Even though the San Antonio Spurs look like they’re extremely close to locking up the Western Conference with a number one seed ahead of the Dallas Mavericks and the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, this team suffered a pretty big blow recently against the Memphis Grizzlies when point guard Tony Parker went down with an apparent calf injury.

At first glance, this injury look like something that Tony Parker could bounce back from and maybe even returned to the game, but that didn’t turn out to be the case as he is now set to miss anywhere from two to four weeks. This will have an impact on upcoming sports betting.

To most teams in the league this would be devastating news as the point guard position can’t be the most important position on the basketball floor. The Spurs might be the exception though as they have a pretty viable backup point guard in George Hill.

Last season when Tony Parker went down with a hand injury, Hill came in and did a great job, so good in fact that head coach Gregg Popovich thought about making in his starter.

Ultimately though, Popovich decided to go with Parker as his starter at the beginning of the season and the decision has paid off so far as they only lost 10 games all year long.

Unfortunately though, the San Antonio Spurs are getting a stretch of games against some very good teams in the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers. With Parker being out against these playoff bound teams, the Spurs will be tested and should they do well they could be extremely tough to beat from here on out.
