#1 San Antonio Spurs (45-9)

The San Antonio Spurs came into this NBA regular season with high hopes of being a playoff team in the Western Conference once again, but no one predicted this team led by aging veterans to be arguably the best team in the league.

There is a still a lot of basketball left to be played this season, but as of right now Tim Duncan and company are the cream of the crop in the NBA and headed towards clinching the top spot in the West.

#2 Dallas Mavericks (38-16)

The Dallas Mavericks may be playing without Caron Butler who is out for the season with injury, but Dirk Nowitzki and company are still competing at a high level with a good grip on the second seed in the West. The Lakers may be knocking on the door at the third seed, but with the way the defending champs have struggled, the Mavs could be sitting pretty.

#3 Los Angeles Lakers (38-17)

The two-time defending NBA champions have gone through a rough couple of weeks and have really made a lot of people question whether or not they can compete with the best of the best in the NBA.

Fortunately, with a win over the Celtics and the Knicks in consecutive games, there is life in Lakerland once again, but a trade could still be on the horizon if they start to struggle once again.

#4 Boston Celtics (39-14)

The Boston Celtics may have lost to their arch rivals on their home floor, but they were able to rebound with win over the Miami Heat shortly after. As long as this team can stay healthy, the Celtics will almost certainly win the Eastern Conference.

#5 Miami Heat (39-15)

The Miami Heat lost to the Boston Celtics recently, but are still arguably one of the best teams in the league and with a legitimate shot of challenging the Celtics in the East.

#6-10 Chicago Bulls (36-16), Orlando Magic (35-21), Oklahoma City Thunder (34-19), Memphis Grizzlies (30-26) and New Orleans Hornets (33-23)
