#1 San Antonio Spurs (49-11)

At this point in time, there is no team in the league that has played as consistently well as the San Antonio Spurs. Not only are they the favorites to go all the way in the Western Conference and finally dethrone the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, but they own the league’s best record and could be quickly on their way to locking up the top spot in the West.

#2 Dallas Mavericks (44-16)

The Mavs are a still a team in the Western Conference that needs to prove they can play with the big boys come playoff time, but they are playing about as well as anyone in the league right now and seem to have the second seed in the West in hand.

As long as Dirk Nowitzki and company can hold off the defending champs, they should cruise into the playoffs with a high seed and a shot at making it back to the NBA Finals.

#3 Chicago Bulls (41-17)

The Chicago Bulls have been underestimated all season long and despite all the people doubting their ability, they could ultimately end up being bound for the NBA Finals. With Derrick Rose playing out of his mind and this young team quickly coming together, the Bulls are extremely tough to beat right now.

I’m not sure whether or not they will be able to take the top spot in the East, but they are playing with a lot of confidence right now and anything is possible.

#4 Boston Celtics (42-15)

As arguably the best team in the league, the Boston Celtics are flying high right now, but they just made a drastic move that might jeopardize their chances of competing with the best teams in the league come playoff time.

Without Kendrick Perkins, this once dominant defense may be in trouble against the bigger teams in the league, but they should still head into the playoffs as the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.

#5 Los Angeles Lakers (43-19)

The defending NBA champions may have struggled throughout the first half of the NBA regular season, but they have come on strong as of late with five straight wins and new found sense of confidence.

#6-10 Miami Heat (43-17), Orlando Magic (38-22), Oklahoma City Thunder (36-22), Memphis Grizzlies (33-28) and Denver Nuggets (34-26)
